otherstuff1957
Thailand doesn't need a Navy, they need a Coast Guard. A Coast Guard would have a lot of the same equipment, but the mission and training would be more oriented toward rescues, inspections/licensing, anti-smuggling and defense. Oziex1
I expect this to be as effective as controlling the apparently still uncontrolled fishing industry.

Until someone is punished seriously nothing will change, and the errant officials should share their cells, all of them 50 years no chance of parole and with all their assets confiscated; boat owns, tour companies involved, captains and government officials and all of them seriously shamed on social media, big signs at their houses and more. If so, he should head up the tourist marine police. He will be grabbing headlines with his heroics on the high seas. A policing unit similar to a coast guard is needed. It they cannot do it themselves, they should hire a private security company like guard force.
