It's too late already. Clear PR stunt. People can read up on his family and make up their own minds on morals.

I don't know the details of Musk's family life, etc., but he seems to come out with some seemingly VERY extreme statements - even about his own father. This is something he has said, for example, about his dad:

'"My dad will have a carefully thought-out plan of evil. He will plan evil. Almost every crime you can possibly think of, he has done. Almost every evil thing you could possibly think of, he has done. It's so terrible, you can't believe it," said the man who harbours plans to create habitable colonies on distant planets.'

Pretty strong stuff!

It is becoming increasingly obvious that Musk refuses to take his medications. He is really losing it. Perhaps the pressure of the basic failure to deliver the model 3? Some the crap he says is just beyond comprehension. Best to just dismiss everything single thing this idiot savant says.

Just a few of this numnut's quotes:

"We're establishing cargo flights to Mars that people can count on," he said in June 2016. "The Earth-Mars orbital rendezvous is only every 26 months, so there'll be one in 2018; there will be another one in 2020. And I think if things go according to plan, we should be able to launch people probably in 2024 with the arrival in 2025."

"I think most likely the form of government of Mars would be a direct democracy, not representative," he said during the Code conference last year. "So it would be people voting directly on issues. And I think that's probably better because the potential for democracy is substantially diminished."

"I think if you're going to choose a place to die, then Mars is probably not a bad choice," he said last year.

"I've had so many simulation discussions it's crazy," he said at Vox Media's Code Conference last year. "In fact, it got to the point where basically every conversation was the AI-slash-simulation conversation, and my brother and I finally agreed that we'd ban any such conversations if we're ever in a hot tub. Because that really kills the magic."

Musk you have just blown any bit of cred you had with this disgraceful insinuation. America does have its fair share of low class clowns and you are firmly one of them. Take your sub and your opinions and shove them where the sun does not shine you horrible tw@t.

I think both of them probably regret what they said (or should) but both will likely never admit it.  I know I have said things in the heat of the moment - I regret... never mention it again pretend it was not said.  Luckily, I never was attracted to Twitter (and I don't have a mass of people following my every move) -- so even if I make an a$$ of myself... it fades and I am safe from making an international a$$ of myself.  Making a mountain out of a molehill from what clearly got out of hand - really not worth it.  I am not going to judge either of them from one lapse, I will judge both of them by things that they have done which are extraordinary.

His father owned an emerald mine in Zambia, all kinds of 'blood money' with that sort of thing. That's where some of Musk's fortune comes from, plus $4.9 billion in government subsidies.

Then he had sex with his stepdaughter who he knew since she was 4. He was 72, her 30, when they had a baby. This is after divorcing Musk's mother.

This was for Elon just a cheap advertising that going around the world. the guy must be happy that he found as partners the Thai Junta government!

Now we will see if he will respect the promise that he made to the General! Anywhere the diver was right, is not the right tool for that case.

For those who are wondering why Vern had made his rather strong statement, consider this.

The governor originally said the sub wouldn't work. Musk dissed the governor saying he wasn't the expert when in fact everyone was reporting to him and he made the decisions. When Vern said we need the Brit specialists, the governor was quick to approve. Same with all the other international help. How many ThaiVisa experts said that never happens??? The governor did an outstanding job, so when Elon criticized the governor, I wouldn't be surprised if that had an impact on Vern's choice of words.

Why did Musk have to visit the cave and divert resources to get a personal tour by the Thai divers? He had at least 2 top engineers there at least 2 days before his visit. Massive PR stunt that has since failed miserably.

The Tweeter storm shows shows that people are very disgusted with Musk. Almost 3 hours after his first tweets, he posted in effect that Vern started it first. Dude needs to claim that Valium from all his travels caused this "abnormal" posting. His fanboys will swallow that.

Outrageous!!!

Because he did not make a quick buck out of the plight of others, he acts like a turd, which he obviously is, by defaming others.

I did post on the other thread if you google musk it says when concentrated it does actually smell like a turd, it seems to ok when there is very little of it present.

And people wonder why there is war? Christ sake this is getting more and more rediculous!

Both have given harsh statements about the other, the one might be more right than the other, but this one side flaming does serve anyone. Get over it and move on. No need to repeat what have been written already a week ago.

Sorry, what you've described is NOT a justification for how crassly Vern handled it. Both men were wrong in their distasteful statements. Musk's was decidedly more crass and personal in nature.

Yes, but Musk did not accomplish this task in the very narrow time frame. While he was still fiddling around with his mini-sub, fantastic divers had already rescued the boys (or were in the process of successfully doing so)!

Time frame when he was asked was something like 4 months (end of wet season)

What would the hero divers have done if one of the kids was incapacitated? Elon's plan was viable and his presence was potentially life saving. The divers (some) were unnecessarily antagonistic from early on in the piece, so now it's come to this.

First there was TDS - Trump Derangement Syndrome. Now we see MDS - Musk Derangement Syndrome. Many people on Twitter were wondering if Musk is running for President because it seems that he's surpassed Trump's outrageous tweeting.

Exactly, it's obvious from most comments that many people have never manged a large, international, rapid pace issue like this. In such a crisis, multiple options are procured and developed concurrently so as not to be caught out. It's called risk management.
