How sad when 13 people’s lives were in danger and he has to come out with such a disgusting allegation over one of the brave divers who went in and rescued them . The fella should be awarded “ Turd of the Month “

???????

You just came with your little submarine made by your engineers, whithout knowing anything about the cave design and if it was usefull..

Wrong. Elon consulted the cave experts from the very beginning on the design. In fact Stanton who found the kids appears to have played the leading role in encouraging Elon to develop the sub and gave him crucial specifications on exactly what would be required for this rescue. Elon also sent engineers to thailand to help understand the factors that could only be understood by being there. When Elon runs his sub to cave 5 as he has now promised to do a lot Elon bashers like you are going to be eating more and more crow.

Billionaires - they breath ratified air.  They consort with the Gods.  Cave divers?  That probably sounds like cavemen to such a lofty bird as the man who builds self-combustible self-driving cars.
Nice things about Billionaires.  Ain't many of them so their easy to ignore.

Never heard of Unsworth until his slam on Musk vaulted him to  "Cave Rescue Hero" in the media.

Wonder how the Thai Navy Seals feel about that....

Sure hope that doesn't hurt Unsworth in his upcoming slander case against Musk.

Farang Retiree trying to explain to a Thai judge why he thought it was OK to tell the guy who builds the world's largest factories to "shove it" after he offered to help the Thai people.

I'm sure that will go well for him.

Indeed, 'pedo'-shaming (sic) is not classy move by Musk, but it checkmates Unsworth, whose best approach now is to fade humbly out of the suddenly intensified spotlight.

In 50 years this 'deleted tweet' will not even be a footnote in the biography of The Man Who Took Humanity To Mars.  Which is - let us be honest - the real issue. "Those smarty pants elites! Let's take him down a notch! By gum, internal combustion was good enough for me! Hey you kids, get that rocket off my lawn!"

Well considering he was one of the guys that was taking the kids out through the waterlogged depths of the cave the Thai navy seals are probably thinking what an incredibly brave guy he is and would be taking an extremely dim view of your comments.

The entire notion that it took Musk or spaceX to conceptualize this idea and manufacture it is absurd. If that had of been the correct solution it would have been proposed and manufactured by others before Musk entered the scene. I suspect Vern, who is probably the leading English speaking subject matter expert on this particular cave,  would have dismissed the notion out of hand, knowing the terrain as well as he does. You can probably assume the other cave divers had a similar view of the concept. Elon, who claims he was speaking the Stanton during the build, is a Emergency services professional, and would have likely politely humored him and been non-committal about his opinions in their discussions and then went quietley about the task at hand with the proven methods employed.

Vern Unsworth was one of first foreigners on the scene, had mapped the cave previously and connected the Thai authorities with the British cave rescue organization, specifically requesting the divers who found and ultimately participated in the rescue, so kind of a key player and within his area of expertise to criticize Musk

What's he trying to prove? [Elon trial running the sub to cave 5]

Credibility. A better question is why did Vern lie about and mock Elon and his sub in such harsh ways? I don't understand it. I also wish to say that I strongly condemn the personal attack Elon made on Vern. It was uncalled for, unprofessional, and stooping to that level makes elon look stupid and casts shade on what up to now was sheer excellence in his involvement.

For those who are feverishly defending Musk, please explain this tweet:

“Water level was actually very low & still (not flowing) — you could literally have swum to Cave 5 with no gear, which is obv how the kids got in. If not true, then I challenge this dude to show final rescue video. "

We know an experienced diver died. We know that the very experienced cave divers said that even during extraction that this was a very difficult dive. Yet here is Musk claiming "you could literally have swum to Cave 5 with no gear."

Meanwhile, he had 2 engineers there 2 days before that could have given him all the details necessary about his little sub. BUT he insisted on visiting the cave himself and had Thai divers escorting him while the rescue was in progress.

Then he attacks the governor and Vern.

I'd still have internet...

Thanks to innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs.

The very same people who seem to offend so many, simply by being successful.
How sad the lives must be of people who look at success and feel only envy and disgust.

Would his submarine have worked? Probably not.

So they designed a second, which, in all fairness, might not have worked either.

Even when Musk was told they would likely not need anything from his team they still continued working, incase a future disaster might require something similar. Because that's what you do in a PR stunt instead of, you know, actually running one of the world's most advanced technology companies.

Was 'pedo' a cheap shot? Absolutely.
Though, 'shove it' wasn't exactly cricket either.

I don't have a dog in this fight.
Far as I'm concerned this is between those two men.

All I was saying is that you probably shouldn't pick an online media battle with a guy who buys pixels by the Exbibyte.

On a serious note, Vern will not win this spat. The unfortunate truth, that many of us farang delude ourselves into rebutting, is that people (especially foreigners) affiliated with Thailand are given a poor reputation globally. Everyone is suspicious of farangs who end up here. And, without judging Vern, his interview (assuming it's not editorialized) lacked tact and potentially sheds some light on his character and education level. Who would tell Elon Musk to "shove it up his #$$"?

Many of us won't accept that Thailand is not well-regarded by outsiders (for mostly good reasons). I avoid telling anyone that I have been based here as not doing so would open me up to unnecessary attacks.
Thats strange.i realize people do not regard Thailand highly but i have never hidden the fact i live here and when my wife and i lived in the UK she was treated with respect and no one has ever tried to infer i was just some older guy married to a bar girl ,mind you they do think we live an exotic life out here.If exotic means going to Tesco to do the shopping and looking after the garden and the wife cleaning the house.then yes we live a very exotic lifestyle

The only thing I surprised at is that EM didn't offer one of his Moon rockets too. If expert divers had such a difficult job and the death of one of the team wasn't obvious enough a submarine was hardly going to make it.

Thank you. Of course I know that now...mainly because of this whole 'confrontation'.

Unsworth undoubtedly acted heroically and deserves praise, more praise than Musk surely.

...but let's just go ahead and judge him anyway, eh?

Does Musk get a free pass on his "pedo guy" jibe because he has a couple of degrees?

As for 'hiding your own personal light under a bushel', grow a pair.

The chief executive of the tech giant Tesla offered to assist the rescue mission by providing a submarine. The request was turned down. Musk lashed out on Sunday, saying he would make a video proving that his “mini-sub” would have been successful and adding: “Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it.”

Just to take it, Mr Musk! Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. We all know that you are used to winning a lot,  but this time you just made a thing people didn´t want to use. They succeeded and rescues all the lost children and their coach. That´s what counts. That´s why they are heroes, and you are not.

The best thing you could have done, would have been to live with that and compartmentalize your defeat. Instead oyu choose to call a true hero a "pedo"??? Talk about not knowing much about how public relations work and how they might affect you in the future. I sincerely hope that all the world comes together here too, and put you out of business by boycotting your products, knowledge and human existance.
