Thai media claimed that a bribes book with the names of low ranking to senior officers was uncovered after a sting conducted at a Chachoengsao karaoke lounge.

The rank of police lieutenant colonel was mentioned by Daily News.

The Ton Palm (Palm Tree) karaoke is just a couple of kilometers from the Plaeng Yao police station.

The raid mounted by protection agencies and the NGO Lift International found six sex workers. One was just 17 meaning that the case falls into the realm of human trafficking.

Arrested were a husband and wife and their daughter.

Sunaree Hormkhajorn, 59, the female owner, her husband La-Ong Phromma, 52, and their daughter Nopparat Thepphitak face five to 15 years in jail and large fines if found guilty.

They deny charges at this stage.

But it is the discovery of the book of bribes that is likely to make the case interesting.

Some names were changed but names and phone numbers of cops from constables to lieutenant colonels were there, said Daily News.

People charged with protecting women and the young could also be on the list.

Daily News reported that the 17 year old at the karaoke lounge was not getting a salary. She was just paid a part of what she got for having sex with customers.

If she took a day off she was fined 2,000 baht.

Pol Maj Gen Kornchai Khlaikhleung played down police involvement in the operation of the business.

Probably a little concerned that his own name might be on the list. This is not the first time such a list has been found of course, but has anyone ever heard of any of the cops actually ever getting in trouble for it?

I agree with ThreeEyedRaven, we regularly hear of this happening but nothing ever seems to come of it.

Amateurs at work; the idea of setting up a racket is that money flows from the bottom to the top, but never directly.

The lowest cop should collect all the money, keep a few percent, and pass it on to his boss. That continues until the big boss can buy a new Richard Mille watch to add to his collection.

That way there are no direct links to the top; when things go south you just "remove" the person below you and the trail ends there.

These guys should play less candy crush and take their bribing and money laundring job a bit more serious.

I find this hard to believe, writing names and amounts is a no-no in the payoff operation. I only paid 200 Baht on an illegal U-turn years and years ago. Baht attached to driver's license. No fuss, nice smiles, what I love about Thailand.
