webfact
Narongsak receives warm welcome as new Phayao Governor PHAYAO, 17th July 2018 (NNT) - Former Chiang Rai Governor Narongsak Osotthanakorn has officially taken up his new position as Phayao governor amid a warm welcome at the provincial city hall. Narongsak and his wife, Jinjana Osotthanakorn, traveled to the city hall on his first day in office as the new governor of Phayao province. Local residents and civil servants presented him with red roses to show their support. Narongsak said he was aware of the high expectations Phayao residents have for him. He said he will do his best to live up to their expectations. As Phayao governor, he will first transform a temporary border entry point in Ban Huak Community, Phu Sang district, into a permanent one to boost tourism and the economy. He added that an effort will be made to develop more water retention areas to ensure a sufficient water supply for local residents during the dry season. Narongsak went on to say that provincial growth and development can only be achieved when everyone cooperates. -- nnt 2018-07-

I am sure they are all just as relieved as we are that the rescue mission in Chiang Rai went so smoothly.

Judging by the number of uniforms typically worn by Thailand civil service, the bulk of the turnout was from civil service employees who still get paid for the day. Since General Prayut overthrew the elected government, the junta has regaled civil service with salary raises and benefits that might be interpreted to buy their loyalty for pro-military unelected officials. chama
If Narongsak solves the problems here he may become a contender for a national position. He handled himself well during his last posting, not only through the cave incident.
