PHUKET: The ISLA has today (July 21) reiterated the warning it issued yesterday (July 20) that people intending to swim at beaches along Phuket’s west coast should stay between the red-yellow “Swim Here” flags – or best not go in the water at all.

The warning, from the International Surf Lifesaving Association, comes as strong southwesterly monsoon conditions have whipped up the surf along the entire west coast.

“Strong winds, large waves, severe rip currents blasting Phuket's west coast. ISLA recommends all exposed west coast beaches be CLOSED until conditions improve,” The Phuket News was told yesterday morning. (See story here.)

ISLA (USA headquartered ) is issuing warnings about swimming dangers in Thailand.

Boy, what a slap in the face, and consequent loss of face for those Thais who are supposedly responsible.

they should amend the warning to say this danger is in addition to the crocodile swimming around tourist beaches.
