Swimmers have been banned on all beaches in Phuket while the crocodile hunting operation is still in operation.

Phuket is preparing to announce urgent crocodile registration measures in order to keep track of all known crocodiles in the area in accordance with the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act.

Governor Norraphat Plodthong says, “We are preparing to announce registration for all crocodiles in Phuket. Anyone who has a crocodile must register the reptile or else they will offending under Section 49 of the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act.”

So- one croc can do a better job of keeping people out of the sea than a 13 million baht lifeguard scam.

" Daren Jenner from the International Surf Life Saving Association says Phuket’s west coast beaches should be closed until it’s captured. "

Brilliant, close 50km of beaches because they cannot catch a shrinking croc (was 3m, now just 1.5m) since what, five days? Although they know very well where it is.

Maybe ask a crocodile hunter not a life guard.

By the way, since Mr Jenner likes bans, how about a ban on life guards playing raqueton and frisbee during their work shifts?

Why are they even trying to catch it?  Saltwater crocodiles are native wild animals here.. just they got hunted out or captured and put in crocodile farms.

Are they going to go catch all the tigers, bears and other wild animals and put them in a farm because they might eat someone?

Chances are people in more danger from drowning, being killed by a boat propeller, driving a scooter or being on a mini bus in Phuket than getting eaten by a single crocodile.

Leave the thing alone.

I suspect all the fuss about the crock is a reaction to show some interest in tourist safety, nothing wrong with that. They sure have some work to do if this is going to spill over to real safety on the roads, jet skis,  boat propellers,  parasailing and well the list goes on. Good luck with that.

Now all those trained lifesavers can take a well earned break!.....from standing on the beach and watching others rescue the drowning.

Send in the Chinese and the beaches will be safe. Even the croc won't hang around listening to them screaming at each other !

Hell, Yeah! Phuket gets better for each day. Cancellation are flowing in like a gift rush two days before christmas.

Hey, There! Come to phuket, sit on the beach and look at the water. It´s nice and hot! Whatever you do, do not take any chater trips out on open water without scuba diving equipment and a PADI Open Water license.

Don´t worry. No life gouards needed no more! They have solved the problem with a crocodile. There ain´t gonná be something left to save. No evidence of any accident. Major league brains at work, wouldn´t you say?

The risks associated with being eaten by a crocodile are far less than the risk of being maimed, injured or killed on a Thai road, so are the Thai authority's going to shut down road transport until that problem is resolved...I think not.

Another numpty decision based on perceived risk.

Something like this perhaps?

If a crocodile is not registered with the authorities, is it then an illegal alien, will it be detained in the Immigration Detention Centre and then deported?

Contract going to a company in secret,no life guards to be seen when the contract was to start.beaches left without guards.reports of guards watching other farang saving people, reports some can't swim..just your usual Thai dealings.

Lifeguard definition: A lifeguard is a rescuer who supervises the safety and rescue of swimmers, surfers, and other water sports participants.

Phuket lifeguard definition: A non-swimmer who passively reports the number of lives lost, or otherwise saved by competent swimmers who happen to be in the same area.

I've been saying all week just shoot the bloody thing.nope leave it to the Thai way.dig up a trench in nai harn when it was on its way to kata and probably laughing at them.then shutting kata when it was on its way to karon, now it's in Patong.this crocs got them running around in circles.seriouly they can't do nothing right.i do some deals with farang like renting property for instance.alls ok until a Thai gets mixed up in the deal and that's when it all goes downhill.

Ahhh, just let a couple of them go for a dip...might entice the Croc to

Come Out For Lunch, then.... get the Life Guards to shoot it and they can sell

the Skin to make shoes and handbags, the meat to a Seafood Restaurant and EVERYONE’s A WINNER !

oh....what about the human Bait ?

MEDALS for Bravery and Free Psychiatric Evaluation.
