Despite earlier warnings, Phetchaburi town has not been affected by water discharged from the Kaeng Krachan dam and the Phetchaburi River has not yet overflowed as feared,  Phetchaburi irrigation project director San Joncharoen said in Monday.

Mr San said the Kaeng Krachan dam is now holding about 726 million cubic metres of water or 102% of its capacity and water is being discharged from the dam through various channels including the spillway and irrigation canals on both sides of the Phetchaburi River.

Water flowing across the spillway is 36 centimetres high. Currently about 12.8 million cu/m of water is flowing into the dam per day, while about 15 million cu/m of water is being discharged from the dam per day.

Oh... it's alright then.

Hopefully.  That is how dams are managed. If the water flowing is less than water flow out.... You have a dam.  When water flowing in is excess to the dam capacity or the drainage capacity.... Then you have a pipe and a good chance of a flood.

Google Brisbane floods.... They really stuffed that up ( for political reasons IMO but blamed some low level engineer). The then State Premier categorically stated floods of Brisbane would never happen due to the Wivenhoe  Dam.

Incompetence isn't restricted to Thailand I can assure you.

See what happens in a week or so though.
