Seen from the perspective of reality and how the world really works, it will be alittle bit different. When a person starts to drink to much, if this is the case, and isolate himself. Yeah, then many people just walk away, because they no longer want to associate themselfs with the person in question. Naturally you should always try to help somebody if possible, but if that help is rejected to many times. Then the world looks like this. As sad as it is, it is simply up to a persons way of respecting himself that creates the care of others. Naturally, it´s far to early to say anything for sure here. Murder, no murder? Alcohol or another cause? Nobody know yet, and this is also probably a piece of news you never hear about again. Sadly, I believe you are right, his life, his choices and possibly died in oblivion, there are worse ways to die. RIP mate, Condolences to your family and mates. Lacessit
Several people in my condo have died after excessive alcohol consumption. IMHO if a farang is going to drink Thai whisky, that's a fairly good indicator of how their life is going to end.

There are telltale signs; - The empty bottles - The large orders of booze - Noise levels - Past interactions with other residents and building staff. Some years ago in my condo building, a chap was drunk, slipped and cut himself on a broken bottle. In his drunken state he did not control bleeding from a deep wound and died. Hs body was found a few days later. The detectives on TVF claimed it was murder. His neighbors said, it was to be expected. He was a noisy resident, often breaking bottles on the ceramic tile floor, shouting and going off to the local corner shop for more booze. Sometimes, the cleaners who did his unit found him in a stupor in dirty clothes. A few short years later, no one in the building remembers him. He is gone and not even a memory. I don't know the details of this event, but I also know that in condos, people always know someone else's business.

Furniture stolen and auction off the room sale by the Juristin person? Like in any other country if a person dies intestate and if after publication and waiting period of up to a year for heirs to make a claim, then yes if no heirs make a claim the estate goes to the government and all expenses (legal, burial, taxes, etc.) are paid out of the sale of the assets. Loaded
I can see how it happens, you just need to walk around some of the expat bars. A single middle-aged bloke who likes a drink comes to Thailand and comes to the conclusion after spending most of his time in bars that Thailand is #hite but his ego prevents him from going home. I know this is common but it's also so easy to break out of this cycle and get to know real Thai people and socialize with people outside of bars - volunteer, teach, go for long walks. I have a great life in Thailand but mainly because I know nivarna isn't found in alcohol.

If you want to stick to the numbers, use all the numbers. Like how many Brits retire to Spain, and how many of them can't afford the $30 trip to avail themselves to the NHS when they are on their deathbed? Versus how many Brits retire to Thailand, completely lose access to the NHS, and can't afford the $500+ ticket back home (or $50,000 medical repatriation) or don't even bother because there's nothing for them there? Not to mention how many Brits become citizens of their country of residence after a few years, when that country is Thailand (0.01%?) vs when that country is (for example) Spain or the USA (??%). So they're not counted as British consular cases. In fact, can you name the recent change in how they're counting those overseas deaths that makes the numbers less meaningful? Without reading the footnotes, the numbers don't tell the whole story...
