Jonathan Fairfield Posted September 8, 2018 Share Posted September 8, 2018 Plans for new car ferry linking Hua Hin and Sattahip gathers speed Image: Banmaung Officials in Prachuap Khiri Khan met earlier this week to put in motion plans to build a new ferry terminal south of Hua Hin in Pak Nam Pran. The new terminal will accommodate a car ferry and link Prachuap Khiri Khan with Sattahip in Chonburi. Early estimates said the journey would take around two hours but ticket pricing, scheduling or when the new terminal will begin constriction are yet to be decided. The terminal would be built as part of the new "Thailand Riviera” project, the Thai government's ambitious plan to develop 528km of coastline including in the provinces of Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Ranong. It was recently announced that Hua Hin airport will be expanded as part of the Riviera project in order to accommodate more domestic and international flights. Within the next five years the number of passengers to arrive at Hua Hin airport is expected to increase tenfold, officials said last month. geriatrickid Posted September 20, 2018 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Build a light rail system first. Hua Hin desperately needs a light rail option to Bangkok. A proper light rail system would do so much for the traffic congestion. South Korea has done it. So has Japan. If Thailand needs the expertise ask them. This could cut travel time to 3 hours, and more importantly save hundreds of millions of baht that would otherwise be lost to car crash property damage and bodily injury/death.
