Thai Rath reported that a souped up, low wheel base pick-up collided with a tree between the service road and the main Petchkasem Highway in Tha Yang district yesterday.

The Isuzu - with Bangkok plates - was completely crushed with its roof off and there were 30 meter skid marks on the road.

Dead in the passenger seat was 21 year old Suchada Udornphimai from Nakorn Pathom.

Taken to hospital with head trauma and other injuries was the driver Thawatchai Sae-khow, 23, also from Nakorn Pathom.

The accident occurred Wednesday evening on the section inbound heading to Bangkok.

No other vehicles were apparently involved.

High speed and wet roads a recipe for disaster . RIP to the passenger .

Souped up cars that are beyond the driver's skills to control coupled with a devil may care driving attitude, Is the recipe for road disasters..

What's that?

They're referring to lowered suspension, low-profile tires usually accompanied by a 'chipped' ECU that marginally boosts engine power and greatly increases black exhaust smoke. These pimped pickups and their yokel drivers are the local equivalent of the ubiquitous Vauxhall Corsa favored by Chavs back in the UK.

I wonder why Thai reporters always blame the car for the accidents? Shouldn't the above really say "Thawatchai Sae-khow, 23, from Nakorn Pathom suffered head trauma and other injuries when he crashed his souped up pickup into a tree."?

I see 2 Young Folks Dead.Nothing more.

Thats exactly why nothing changes . People only see what they want to see rather than seeing things that are dangerous and making improvements to prevent future dangerous acts. Blind to reality will not stop more deaths.  Doing nothing will not stop more deaths.

It comes from Education, not Control Freaks. Unfortunately some young are slow learners.
