"Commit crime in Pattaya and we'll get you" police chief tells would be criminals

Pattaya police chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch had a clear warning for criminals intent on committing crime against tourists at the resort:

"We will arrest you - you can be sure of that".

The chief was pictured with a tourist who had the seat of her Vespa forced by two Thais who stole a bag and a wallet.

The vehicle had been parked at the Avenue shopping complex.

Two suspects were soon in custody, reported Manager. They were husband and wife Kittichai "M" Saowarot and Thassanee or "Kung" or "Oi" Sutthikun, 34, both from Rayong.

Pol Col Apichai said that Thassanee was arrested for drugs and prostitution in 2013 in Pattaya.

He said crime against tourists whether they be foreigners or Thais will always be investigated on his patch.

He warned criminals not to break the law in Pattaya - or else.

Got to say, he is the first police chief who at least says something and does something.

All previous chiefs were no where near as vocal or active .

By the way , met him in person and appears to be a very humble guy

Why are you making fun of Thais and more Thai bashing?

Why can't you just accept this news story as something positive ?

Its not even foreign criminals , it's Thai criminals .

the ladyboy muggers will still be there on beach road as usual .like the last 30 years .

Yeah they are part of the local scenery. Never really understand why people hang with them then come on this forum to complain about them ! Just avoid the ten yard section on the one side of the Road where they hang out!  Avoid them. Show some tolerance.

fancy doing that under the eyes of the parking attendant ?

It is a large lot and the security people there do not hover over the scooters continually. I go there daily and the security people there seem to keep an eye out, but criminals keep an eye out as well; an eye out for opportunity.

Was it this same police chief who declared a "war on drugs" in Pattaya earlier this year. Well, for 1-2 months the guys trying to sell you "marihuana, cocaine, ecstacy" did move their business 50 metres further from the police desk at the Balihai end of the walking street. Then it returned back to normal again.
