Popular Post tomaway Posted October 5, 2018 Popular Post Share Posted October 5, 2018 Hi all, I just wanted to share with you my experience renewing my visa in Ho Chi Minh. Living in Phuket, I used to go to Savanakhet to do it but it takes 4 days in total and it is plain boring.... VietJet has direct flight, 2hours and I paid 1900thb one way. The embassy accept papers from 08:30 to 15:00 but if you drop the papers in the afternoon I am not sure you can get your visa the next day. No financial proof required but they want a guarantee letter from the wife. The ME visa cost 200$, a bit more expensive than in LAOS but for few nationalities you don't need visa to enter Vietnam hence 1 page saved in the passport plus the cost of the Laos visa. No need to mention that Ho Chi Minh is a blast compare to Savanakhet, thousands of restaurant and hotel to choose from and also nice museum to visit. theonetrueaussie Posted October 7, 2018 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Yes you can drop off in the afternoon and collect the next day. Keep in mind if you are applying for a non b to study thai and have been studying for a year they will try and speak thai to you and if you cannot speak thai you will be denied. She thought I had been studying already as my course said beginner and was not impressed that I did not understand her but after I explained that beginner means just starting she smiled and all was good. Not sure about that. Officially, you must submit your application for a visa in the morning. Thanks. I saw this on the website and it implies that applications can be made in the afternoon. This is both supported and contradicted by posts in this thread, so I am a bit confused! That applies to other websites also, but there are many sources that confirm my own understanding (such as https://www.live-less-ordinary.com/thai-tourist-visa-application-in-ho-chi-minh/). Years ago, many consulates were much more flexible in processing visa applications, some even providing same day service.
