Wiggy
So, he was convicted of drunk-driving; a 6,000 baht fine should be a deterrent.
Henrik Andersen
There is no justice in Thailand only 6000 b fine He was driving in a 18 wheeler and drunk No suspected license No time in monkey house Lucky the other man survived and hopefully he will sue this low life of a scumbag Thailand have again and again show it is OK to drive drunk because fine is so cheap
Moonlover
The car driver was extremely lucky to survive than one. He did say he has yet to receive compensation, but is pursuing a civil case. Truck driver should also be banned from driving for life and his (ex?) company should also be hauled into court. Watch the video (turn the volume down first) and have a look at the state of the trucks tyres.

Indeed, and this just goes to show how these morons think. Only a couple of weeks ago the fools were talking about fining drivers50K or 100K with long jail terms for not having a valid license. So no license gets you a whopping fine and jail, whereas driving an 18 wheeler pi$$ed, crashing and nearly killing an innocent person gets you a 6000 Baht fine, they are completely out of their tiny minds. MichaelJohn
I wonder what the fine would have been in UK/Europe/USA? 1 Year in Jail. Thousands £$€in a fine. and probably banned for a number of years. Is there any deterrent in B6,000??????
worgeordie
No wonder there is no improvement on the roads, 6K THB fine for DUI,and crushing a car with someone inside, the Authorities are not taking the issue seriously, and until they do more than just talk, nothing's going to change.drive carefully, the truck driver will most likely be back on the roads today. regards Worgeordie
Lacessit
6000 baht is a lot of money for a Thai on 300 baht a day. Having said that, however, the driver should have been banned from the roads for at least 2 years.
