KANCHANABURI, 19th October 2018 (NNT) - Kanchanaburi province has delivered a home to, Patipan Kunkong, a nine-year-old boy whose mother must take care of her severely ill husband.

The Governor of Kanchanaburi, Jeerakiat Bhumsawat, on Thursday presided over the house delivery ceremony in Tha Muang district on Thursday. Patipan now works on a farm and sells water plants to gain more income to help his impoverished family and take care of his father.

The boy is currently a student at Wat Thung Thong School, and is known for his gratefulness and loyalty to his family. He currently runs his own business cultivating plants and selling them himself after school and on weekends and holidays, to find enough money to help his father who is suffering from a stroke, heart valve regurgitation, and hypertension, which make him unable to do his normal job. The mother must stay with the father to take care of him.

The Kanchanaburi Governor and local officials have made a previous visit to the family and provided initial help. The province has raised a total of 77,240 baht fund for the renovation of the house, which was constructed by personnel from the military engineers.

The province also gave the hardworking boy 10,000 baht cash for educational purposes, and other necessary items for the family.

Unlike the majority of Thai kids who are coddled by their parents and never learn an ounce of work ethic, this kid is out there helping the family make a living.  Kudos.  I can respect that.
