webfact
Sukhothai: Old Thai man caught dragging dog behind his pick-up - but there's a back story Picture: Sanook Thai netizens were outraged when footage was posted online that showed a pick-up in Sukhothai dragging a dog. The dog was large and by now very much dead. At the wheel of the pick-up was an 84 year old man. But what seemed like a tale of horrendous animal cruelty turned out to have an entirely different back story. Sanook reporters went to the home of "Uncle Therm" who lives in Thap Pheung sub-district in the northern Thai province. Therm explained that he had got up for his early morning alms giving routine on Wednesday morning. In the driveway of his house was a large dog that had been obviously been dead for some. He waited until evening hoping that someone would come to claim it. By dusk he was worried about the smell. He was not strong enough to lift it onto the back of his pick-up and his paralyzed wife was in not position to assist him. He was also worried about contracting rabies. So using a plastic bag as a makeshift glove he moved the dog and attached it by rope on to the back fender of his pick up and decided to drag it to a dump nearby. Sanook noted that there are often two sides to a story. Source: Sanook -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-10-
bluesofa
Was the dog called Woodbine? Perhaps that's why he took it out for a drag.
ratcatcher
But, I imagine by the time he got to the dump, there was only one side to the dog.
thaimelody
Was the truck a 'Rover'? Is this a new kind of drag racing?

Couldn't he have just put it in a trash bag, and placed it in the back of his truck to transport it? Just saying...
Yewbzee
Damn, that was a really quick thinking 84 year old to come with that excuse after forgetting about his dog tethered to his truck.

He's strong enough to tie it to the bumper and drive the truck, but he can't put it in the bed of the truck? Sounds unlikely. I don't care what the article says. You believe everything in news articles written in Thailand (or anywhere else for that matter)? PT Barnum said there's one born every minute.
