You go to any Pharmacy here in Thailand asking for something for a problem and they will give you a handful of different drugs because this is what Thais do when their sick , i am yet to see my wife just take one tablet for something its usually 2-4 and different types depending on what is wrong . Thai logic if one doesn't work the others will .

Because they do not take them all anyway, they just take 1-2 days and that's it. We have a whole box hidden somewhere with old drugs.

Thailand does not have laws for drinking or anything else.  It only has guidelines to be followed by those too poor to pay to ignore them.

Thailand does have alcohol restriction laws and they are enforced (for everyone) .

I think the difference is probably private versus government hospitals. At Bangkok Hospital in Samui they always try to push unnecessary tests and their charge for medicines is many times the cost at local pharmacies and they definitely prescribe more than needed. The cost also goes up significantly if you are insured. The government hospital in Nathon is far less a rip off for medicine.

I was quoting spermwhale who said a doctor was a liar, and medicines was a money maker for hospitals here, even you said the government hospital in Nathon was less of a rip off.

What happened with me today proves that is nonsense.

These appeared to be pharmaceutical in nature.

Fenistil - cream for itchy rashes

Preventino - I believe is a brand of condoms

The rest appear to be pills that many tourists would carry with them.

I would probably also have viagra, imodium, paracetamol, Amoxicillin, and Systral cream.

Is that the best one can write about this  .. ? Does that sound like we may be putting a stupid Tourist’s mistake in the wrong ‘responsibility’ column ..?

Some medications, even OTC can have contradictions when used in combination with other drugs, and in some cases can be fatal particularly when consumed with a few alcoholic drinks or he upped the recommend dosage..

I wonder whether the cocktail of drugs were prescribed by a doctor or recommended by a pharmacist?

And if these led to his death.. Too young at 19 yrs to suddenly die.. RIP..

Private (shop) Thai Pharmacists are not to be trusted. They never ask what other meds you may or may not be taking. They have little thought on the ‘Big Phama’ cocktail reactions.

Man, this place is becoming a frightening place, ‘mental, totally mental’ !

Figures suggest that pills are actually very hard to kill yourself on, even with the alcohol.

It's crazy as the visions of some people are different, for many the pointing is ridiculous. But for me, it's funny,  all those pointing starting in most situations for the pictures makes me laugh.
