webfact Posted October 29, 2018 Share Posted October 29, 2018 14 million meth pills seized in Chiang Rai By The Nation Naval officials seized 14 million methamphetamine pills shortly after they were smuggled across the Mekong River into Chiang Rai’s Chiang Khong district early on Monday. A unit of the Mekong patrol Navy troops spotted a boat docking on the banks of the Mekong near a deserted house in Jam Pong village in Tambon Lai Ngao at 2am. The boat left about five minutes later and the troops waited until two pickup trucks arrived. They spotted some 10 men carrying bags to load into the pickup trucks. When the troops came out from hiding, the men fled on foot into the darkness. The troops found 73 bags in the two pickups. The number of seized meth pills was estimated at 14.6 million.
