The 7/11 convenience store chain ubiquitous in Thailand now has a restaurant in one of their stores, according to the SSBN site on Facebook.

7/11's expansion into new markets was seemingly never ending, said the poster.

The 7/11 pictured was in Bangkok at Prachasongkhro Soi 23.

Patrons could eat in or take food away. There was some limited seating.

In comments the same poster said that another 7/11 had installed free toilets for customers.

This is the first 7-11 that I saw in Bangkok.  Today, when I looked at the photo one thing stood out.  I didn't see anyone with a phone...

Another remarkable detail: The Kodak Express next to 7/11. Today it is quite hard to find one of these or a Fuji.

To my mind 7/11 IS Thailand. Even though they sell mostly unhealthy junk, it's always a welcoming and positive experience, why can't all sales staff be this friendly? Then of course they have milk, phone cards, important toiletry items, things that one often needs,  you can even pay bills there, and those toasted cheese sandwiches and ready meals are hard to resist. Just re-name the place Sevenelevenland.

How about blood tests for diabetics and cashing tax refund checks? Expats will welcome the opportunity to send wire payments to their own accounts overseas...

Some may like a quick massage (perhaps at urinals, as customary in some clubs)? 555

Banning AIS shows how they do abuse their powers.

Back 45 or 50 years ago 7/11's were open only from 7 AM to 11 PM. Their prices in USA were higher than the grocery stores because they were considered a convenience store. Stop and go for basics. The 7/11s here are great. Prices often same as superstores. Always friendly and fast, at least in CM.

As others have said, dining area inside many 7-11 shops in other parts of Asia for years now. The large Seven in the shopping centre next to Zeer Rangsit has a seating area inside to eat your microwaved meals and drink your coffee. Small one at Future Park also has some seating outside. So far I haven't seen free wi-fi in a Seven so for now they avoid the McDonalds problem of students taking three hours to finish a small coke...

The Seven near me has a large forecourt that used to have two food carts and tables and seats. They're gone now but there is nice wooden seating where you can sit and eat, with a couple of friendly soi dogs patiently waiting for whatever you can't finish...

Lets do away with the entire governmental Bureaucracy and let 7-11 run everything.

That might indirectly be happening already.

Super-rich family-run conglomerates have benefited since the coup.

Top Thai companies such as Charoen Pokphand [owner of 7/11's], ThaiBev and Central Pattana, among others in the Sino-Thai big business elite, have expanded their enterprises and market positions extensively under a junta that has maintained and even implemented new protection for the firms’ interests while grasping for innovative new strategies to modernize and expand the economy. You shouldn't be so hard on those students, many of them use places such as McDs to do their homework because they don't have appropriate facilities at their homes.  Give them a break, they could be doing a lot worse!
