BobTH
I have a 10.1 inch tablet and a keyboard for it also. I use a wireless mouse so I do not use the keyboard touch pad. I use to have the prompt to disable it but I forgot it and can't seem to find it again searching the net. It was just two keys, like the windows key and a F key or maybe Ctrl and F key. I don't want to do a permanent disable, just the two keys each time I restart the tablet. It is operating on Windows 10. The bottom of my typing hand rubs the touch pad as I type causing errors all the time and it is annoying. If anyone knows the keystrokes I would be more than grateful is you would share them with me. CharlieH
Sounds like a laptop/notebook not a tablet. What make is it ? That may help with getting the right key strokes.

CharlieH
Have you tried fn+f9 ? If that doesnt help there is always this..... Turn Off Touchpad on Windows 10 Step 1: Open the Task Manager. Open your task manager, ctrl+alt+del, or by searching for it. Step 2: Select Startup Options. Select the startup tab along the top. Step 3: Disable ETD Control Center. Step 3: Disable ETD Control Center. Well fn+f9 didn't work, I also did step 1 and 2 in task manager startup Options but there is no option of Disable ETD Control Center. I bought the tablet to use in the USA when staying with family there, that is really the only time I have used it. But before I had and used the two keystrokes I mentioned initially but have forgotten them and have searched again with no luck for the temporary disable strokes, but I know there is. Maybe someone else will know them. Thanks CharlieH.
CharlieH
Here is a small free program thst will do it for you. http://touchfreeze.net You can assign a key to use through this. "TouchFreeze is a free and simple utility for Windows that automatically disables the touchpad while you are typing in text"
