An upset 80-year-old woman, who jumped into a canal in Songkhla province, was rescued by two fishermen, police said.

The woman reportedly felt bitter after being reprimanded by her sister.

Hat Yai Police Station was informed at 5pm that two fishermen had pulled an elderly woman out of the water after they saw her head above the water while her body was floating on the drainage canal.

The woman appeared exhausted and would not tell how she had landed in the canal. She also refused to be taken to a hospital.

Police later located her house and learned from her sister the possible reason for the woman jumping into the canal.

Jumping into the canal seems like the reasonable thing to do after being reprimanded. She must have been a very naughty girl.

Happily she wasn't "scolded".

That frequently results in murder.

A profound understanding of Thai psychology I must say. I was always under the impression  that Farangs don't understand anything. Then suddenly out of the blue is one with good perception of social problems. Formidable.
