rooster59
Soldier shoots girlfriend then turns gun on self at northern Thailand bus station Image: Thai Rath A Thai woman's daughter watched in horror as her mother's young soldier boyfriend shot her multiple times at a northern Thailand bus station. The man then fled and was later found dead. Chaiyaphat, 20, said she had gone with her mother Lamyai Prawat, 41, and her boyfriend Wirapong Trainarong, 27, to the Sri Bun Reuang bus station in her mum's pick-up. She had then gone to buy a ticket for Wirapong who was a soldier in Korat and was on his way to Bangkok before resuming military duty in the far south. When she returned to the pick-up her mother and Wirapong were having an argument. Wirapong produced a 9mm gun and shot at her mother hitting her in the chin, chest and left arm. He then fled. Medics at the scene took Lamyai to hospital where she died later. Wirapong was found nearby having shot himself dead. Police said it was all over jealousy. TallGuyJohninBKK
I'm trying to follow this - a 27-year-old Thai guy is jealous of something that his 41-year-old girlfriend who has a 20-year-old daughter is up to??? Really???

Really??? No, the 41-year-old is providing sex, cash and validation to the 27-year-old who spends the majority of his time kicking his heels with nothing to do but brood on a military base. Jealous of somebody keeping his side of the bed warm whilst he has to waste his life waiting till the Colonel needs his car washed or drive swept. Jealous that somebody else might be moving in on his income stream. Angry that the mother refused to let him have a go at her daughter, who knows. Very emotionally immature anyhow. Gets angry. Shoots his girlfriend. Runs away. Realises he will go to prison for a long time (you don't say!). Shoots himself. This is a recurring story in Thailand. The 20-year-old will not be his biological daughter.

And also a seemingly endless supply of Thai men with guns who feel it necessary to murder their girlfriend or wife over an argument or jealousy, rather than acting like a man and walking away. The above aspect is one of the things I was wondering about, and as it's pretty typical here... 1 hour ago, Briggsy said: The 20-year-old will not be his biological daughter. I think that part is pretty obvious, considering the formerly 27-year-old guy would have had to have fathered the 20-year-old with the mom when he was 7, which while perhaps possible, isn't really likely, not even here!
