snoop1130
Two killed in blast at unlicensed fireworks factory By Kriangkrai Rattana The Nation Two workers were killed when an unlicensed firework-manufacturing factory in Chiang Mai's Doi Saket District exploded on Friday morning, deputy provincial governor Khomsan Suwan-ampa said. Police and firefighters rushed to the scene of the explosion and fire in Tambon Pa Lan and found the house/factory ablaze. They found the body of Kampol Khanchai, 54, while Pradit Sodsong, 50, was rushed to Doi Saket Hospital but was pronounced dead. An initial police investigation found that Kampol and Pradit were making funeral fireworks to sell within the district. They were mixing potassium chlorate and gunpowder to put into firework packages when the explosion occurred. The blast brought down the roof of the factory before the house was engulfed in flames. Khomsan said the small, unlicensed factory produced fireworks for funerals, and were not related to the firework making for the upcoming Loy Kratong Festival. He said he would have officials check on all firework-making premises in Doi Saket and other districts to ensure they all had proper licences and adhere to safety measures. I wonder why he didn't order these checks BEFORE this accident happened, and if they actually gonna last for longer than 2 days

AhFarangJa
Once again we have the reactive response instead of proactive......a couple of days pottering around in an official car, then back to candy crush in the office....

And while you're at it deputy provincial governor Khomsan Suwan-ampa, check the unlicensed clinics, pharmacies, entertainment venues, hotels, lotteries and don't forget the licenses for dart boards. However, maybe that's too much to ask for in a country under an 'unlicensed government'.
PETERTHEEATER
Potassium Chlorate is used in fireworks to make colour but is dangerous in more than small amounts and is banned for this use by many countries. A safer alternative is Potassium Perchlorate. But, hey, TIT!
UnkleGoooose
Some hot dogs, beer and marshmallows, a comfortable chair, and that would have probably been good to watch.

seahorse
You'd have to be desperate for money to work in a licensed fireworks factory, never mind an unlicensed one.
AWillOz
Thank heavens it wasn't fireworks for the Loy Kratong festival!!
