Kanchanaburi without the girlie bars?

After several different tries Ive found what I am looking for. Well almost. 555

Kanchanaburi.....quiet town with some nature just about left ( the bit by the river) cheap local food and fruit, a decent bar with good live music, another with prem league football, a nice river thats got a few kingfishers and other birds to look at, and a few expats to talk to.

But, hottest part of thailand, most farang there seem to be there for the girls and bars with hookers are really not my thing at all.

So,a kanchanaburi with a bit of life but without tne sleaze. Any recommendations?

Quite a confusing post, OP.  You might know the saying about never being more than six foot from a rat, well the same goes for sleaze.

If you like Kanchanaburi then you like it.  If you really think there's a spot in LOS that's utopian to you then you're are wrong.

Ride/drive all around the province as many do, one of my favorite places in Thailand.

Or just carry on sitting on your stool numbing your brain watching footiball.

The English Premier League is the McDonalds of sport - it’s not even a particularly good burger, but you can get it anywhere, and it’s always the same, and it’s simple.

if you don’t want girlie bars, I’d recommend the Old Dutch onSoi Cowboy, and I’m sure if you look hard enough you’ll find a square pub in Kanchanaburi. But if you want somewhere in Thailand that is miles from a girlie bar, you’ll need to find a province where they don’t sell beer

Don't know if you refer to me or OP, I like girlie bars and beer and when I was riding my motorbike around all of Kanchanaburi lots of shops on road selling cans of beer.

How about a bar with lots of sexy girls and no football. Or even better without any TVs?

I remember these places existed a long time ago. And the girls had no phones!

But it seem now those places don't exist anymore.

Pump Station in Pattaya, connect 4, 50baht to the buck, ah memories

I loved my first visit to Kanchanaburi about eight years back. I revisited earlier this year and the place was overcrowded, noisy and commercialised. It'd definitely lost it's charm for me. The last straw was the double pricing in the war museum where I was made to pay a lot more than my Thai wife. They'll be doing the same at Hellfire Pass in the not to distant future, wait and see.

And thats why I live where I do !!

And no I am not telling anyone, I like it the way it is and dont need anymore farangs invading the area, thank you.

You need to seek your own Nirvana and when you find it, keep your mouth shut or it will disappear. ????

????????????????. Were you blind when you came here??? There is one main street with a handfull of girly bars!  The province is beautiful. There are many expats here many of which don't go and drink to rent girls!!!

On second thoughts..... best not come

You were probably up by the bridge and are talking about the 'JEATH' museum by the bridge. It is not the proper JEATH museum which is a few klicks downriver, but a rip-off Thai copy, no not even a Thai copy, it's a Thai money making exercise!! Do your research!!

The town is getting quieter year on year actually, the same as the rest of Thailand.

No chance! It's run on behalf of the Australian Government.

I used to have a soft spot for Ranong.

Medium sized town. Has most stuff.

A lot of nature not too far away.

A couple of islands to visit.

Has an airport.

Not invaded by ferrang.

Interesting mix of Thai, Burmese, and Chinese culture.

And it's cheap.

The only "girlie-bars" you will find in Kancha are all on Mae Nam Kwae Road. (a strech of about 300 meters at best.)
Outside of that aerea, Kancha is like any other mid-sized town in Thailand. A small aerea, and half of the "girlie-bars" are closed during off-season these days. Easy to avoid "girly bars", just stay away from Mae Nam Kwae Road.
10 years ago, said street was called "little Pattaya". These days I would call it "very little Pattaya".
