DTAC has no signal in one of a countries

It's worked in all the countries so far, for years. In North America too. But now in South America it's not working -- it won't connect to any mobile operator service provider. What can I do?

My initial goal is to be able to receive sms from Kasikorn. Nothing else.

What can I do?

If I install their app, it'll require connection to internet via my original sim-card only to activate itself. Alternatives?

Did you check to see if DTAC has roaming agreements with the country in South America  that you're in? If it doesn't, the South American networks won't recognise the DTAC SIM card - from a quick glance it looks as though DTAC has roaming agreements with 60 countries, that means there are 135 countries it doesn't have agreements with.

Where is the agreement?

It could be that your phone does not support the local partner's spectrum. Some South American countries have unusual and unique frequencies.

Obviously, the DTAC Call app might work, assuming you have WiFi and have properly registered for that service.

More detail about your location, phone (make/model) and availability of WiFI would be helpful to those trying, in turn, to assist you.

Also, are you prepaid or postpaid with DTAC?

Prepaid.

I don't have Dtac call installed, and thus I can't install it now because I wouldn't be able to receive activation code.

South American frequencies are unusual? The ones of North America not? In Mexico it worked.

Which country?

What is make/model of the phone?

By "unusual", I meant frequencies which your phone may not support.

My read of the various DTAC info is that prepaid customers cannot use roaming in South America. No clue why it worked in Mexico for you.

Post-paid customers can roam in SA.

For example, in Brazil DTAC has roaming agreements with...

Nextel Brazil
OI MOVEL SA
Claro Brazil

No clue what DTAC support may be able to do for re: the DTAC Call app, but it seems like it might be worth a try?

My phone can detect all the networks, but none of them allows me to connect.

1) How can I change my tariff to postpaid? Given that now my prepaid sim doesn't work and therefore I can't login to "my dtac" dashboard.

2) Dtac app would work, but it requires an activation code for the first usage that can be received .... to the original simcard.
