hey did you forget the INDIANS i was in Pattaya a few nights ago, thought i was in INDIA lol, even cheaper charlies than the Chinese

there are definitely more indians coming to pattaya, than in previous years.

i cant understand why they mostly walk on the roads, then cross without looking-- very dangerous for motorcyclists.

So you don't get tourists who want to stay long time??

There are not so many of these left now because of the visa rules.

The visa rules which change all the time.  Are they making it more easy or more difficult this month - I can't keep up!

Malaysia offers, I believe, 90 days on arrival and has done for years without any problems that I know of.

Why is Thailand so paranoid?

It's not paranoid, it's greedy. You have to pay for extensions and trips back and forth, whereas the 90 days wouldn't warrant that.

People are just not coming back and all who came. All say the same thing , which is Thailand is not cheap as it use to be and those who come to party say it’s not as fun as it use to be.

As far as farang tourists go.

The British, Australian, European ones.

It's true..

It's not a cheap holiday here anymore.

The women get older, and younger ones won't come for freelance.

No money in that.

Saw Heineken 45 baht a half pint in Buchao today.

That's £2.20  in the U.K money.

Aussie $ cheaper. $4 is a good buy.

But one cheap beers not going to bring them in.

Exchange is the killer sorry to say.

20% to 25% less for the farang exchange money.

But they have the Chinese..

So they keep telling us.

They no longer have the Chinese, and Chinese currency has lost quite a lot so now also an expansive holiday, even if they eat only Mama noodles 😉

Apart from the bad exchange rate, it’s the kamikaze drivers that frighten “ normal” tourists away. While in Europe the road rules are getting stricter and speed limits lower, it’s all hell  let loose on Thailand’s roads and nobody does an intelligent thing about it ! Families with children don’t go to a country that is known everywhere as being dangerous.

Yep. We went to Safari World a few weeks back. Just like little India. They were even playing Bollywood songs to get the crowd excited before the Dolphin show! Coach loads of single men as well as families.

I think that this is a major reason that Brits and farangs in general have given up on Pattaya. They have had enough bad experiences with South Asians in their own country. They don't want a "get away from it all" holiday in a resort where they are outnumbered and are cheek and jowl with badly dressed, badly behaved, and smelly individuals that have already taken over their own towns and cities. Busman's holiday.

After reading this thread why would anyone want to stay long time?

Because we don't want to be elsewhere.

Being cheek by jowl with the badly dressed gives me an edge.

Thailand is fast becoming a fourth rate last hope Asian holiday destination..

the same old Land of smiles recording has been wiped off the face of tourism by social media showing the true face of Thailand..

Nothing to new to offer from what's been around for the last 30 years, tired, worn-out, done to death

only the dregs of Pattaya are still around, bar girls & pissed up youths who are happy to entertain each other

lets face it 100,000 plus Thai girls have even gone to South Korea to find something new...

Thailand is like the "Butlins" of old.... white wash doesn't cover the cracks anymore.. time to bulldoze the place & build something new & entertaining, not just a line of bars & massage shops!

Yes, I get that but the invasion is complete, you can't get away from them. Went for a swim and lunch in the Areca Lodge last week. Mostly farangs with their farang wives, a few farangs with their Thai "girlfriends. Large group of young Indians spread round the pool and started acting like complete idiots. Really annoying. Most people, us included, packed up and left the pool area.
