jaideeguy
My step son is abroad and is of draft age and we avoided his having to return to LOS by enrolling him as a student. Worked last year, but have recently heard that once he finishes school, he will be eligible for the draft. supposedly for 5 years. Are there any legal ways for him to avoid that obligation if he finishes school and no longer has that deferment?? PMs welcome...........
blackcab
The easiest way to deal with this is to attend the draft and not get selected. As you can imagine, a Thai person, perhaps the mother, needs to discuss matters with the recruiting staff. I have heard it said that the last person in the queue to draw their lot is in the best possible position, because it is quite likely all the red cards/balls will get before this person takes the final lot. Hence the last 2 or 3 places in the queue can be sought after positions by those in the know. The end result is the draftee genuinely appeared and went through the process. No future problems.
