Watched the first 2 episodes of season 3 last night and it was really disappointing.

Is it just me?

Any other opinions?

So far season 3 seems a bit slow.  The very bizarre drug/hallucination scenes seem a bit out of place, combined with the casino scene with the singer, felt like I was watching a David Lynch film e.g. Twin Peaks.

Am American and do like the addition of Dennis Quaid and Beau Bridges.  Dennis overacts a bit.  Also like Paul Williams and William Hurt from previous seasons who have made short appearances so far.  The backdrop of the central valley of California changes the feel from previous seasons filmed in and around Venice, CA IMO.

Just started watching Poldark, Season 1.   Likely been listed on here before

Really like it so far. As an american I do not always enjoy BBC series as many times cannot understand "proper" english haha

Seems it is still a running series with season 5 on now.

Season 3 has been a disappointment so far.

If the finale to S3 is anything to go by, there'll defintely be a S4.

S1 was good and reminded me of "The Rainmaker." S2 lost me a bit with the amputee / porno sub plot.

Native American mysticism / drugs took up a lot of S3.

If you were going to watch this show to see the 'little guy" triumph in legal battles, you would be sadly disappointed. It seems to be a study in deceit, more deceitful and most deceitful.

Batwoman has landed. Or taken off, or whatever, Episode 1 out now.

I thought about giving this one a crack.

Then I saw the IMDB rating of 2.8

I normally don't go just on ratings, but I've never seen many that low before,

so decided to give it a miss.

There was some innane controversy over the casting, the leading "role" is gay but the actress is not, so there is a campaign to score it low. 250+ reviews in a couple of days shows that something is amiss.

Recently watched in the theatre:

It (part 2). Not as good as the first part but still good horror.

Ad astra. Beside a weak story and too much focus on main actor Brad Pitt the realism and effects are amazing. Compare it to 2001-A Space Odyssey but with up to date effects. Watched in Imax it was absolutely great images.

Weathering with you. Japanese anime from the same studio that made "Your name" in 2016 and also same artist Radwimps for the soundtrack. Nice and easy movie with great drawings and animations of Tokyo.

Freaks. Surprising twist in the story and very good acting from the young girl main actress. Also something new besides all the remakes and new parts.

The Capture, first rate thriller. Episodes 1, 2, and 3 available.

Watched 1 - 3. Put 4 on yesterday and was lost, hadn't an effin' clue what it was all about. Watched Scarborough instead.

It can be a little confusing at times, but it all becomes clear eventually.

Mr Robot returned last night for a 4th series - I was a little bored with the last, so the verdicts still open.

The Unicorn - i wasn’t really going to post this, it’s a rom-com series, it features a cast of actors outside of their usual roles, still in e02, it holds my attention - Walter Goggins, Omar Benson and Rob Corddry (from ballers)

Just saw Shaft last night on Netflix, the subtitles were good, the wife caught all the jokes, so it was a good watch for me, although a little cheesy.

Yes, it started off very good, but by ep4 I was exasperated because it's trying too hard to be an involving story. It just seems a bit too convoluted, too 'clever'.

I'll have a butchers at ep 5; I hope it's more coherent.

Walter Goggins is a great actor IMO, especially in Justified.  In Sons if Anarchy he was hilarious.

May give the Unicorn a try since you say it is watchable.  Tried watching The Righteous Gemstones, because of Walter and others in the cast, but was disappointed

Watch IT 2.

I thought IT was S...

The new Rambo was decent.

Best movie so far this year for me John Wick 3.  Those scenes with Halle Berry fighting with the dogs amazing.

It 2 was far too long, at nearly 3 hours it just got tedious, and overdone with CGI as usual.

I just realised, I have an MXQ Pro, which is the same thing. I used to use it for Kodi but got tired of it, too many choices, and it wasn't as simple to play from a USB stick like one of these , which is a dedicated USB player, but unfortunately doesn't play HEVC.https://www.ebay.com/itm/HD-1080P-Digital-Media-Player-HDMI1-3-Autoplay-USB-Support-RM-RMVB-H-264-SD-Card/292671175302?hash=item44248fba86:m:mlbeel0rr9cn2QS0IqRD9oQ

Kodi (14.0 and later) can play H265 format videos.

3.1 Format support

XBMC/Kodi can be used to play/view all common multimedia formats through its native clients and parsers. It can decode these audio and video formats in software or hardware, and optionally pass-through AC3/DTS/HD audio, or encode to AC3 in real time from movies directly to S/PDIF digital output to an external audio-amplifier/receiver for decoding.

  • Container formats: AVI, MPEG, WMV, ASF, FLV, MKV/MKA (Matroska), QuickTime, MP4, M4A, AAC, NUT, Ogg, OGM, RealMedia RAM/RM/RV/RA/RMVB, 3gp, VIVO, PVA, NUV, NSV, NSA, FLI, FLC, DVR-MS, WTV, TRP and F4V.
  • Video formats: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.263, MPEG-4 SP and ASP, MPEG-4 AVC (H.264), H.265 (as from Kodi 14) HuffYUV, Indeo, MJPEG, RealVideo, RMVB, Sorenson, WMV, Cinepak.

I've only watched the first 2 episodes because it has Goggins in it.

It's fair at best TBH.

Each to their own.

I thought John Wick 3 was dreadful.

Lasted about 20 minutes.
