Although we controlled most of the game, our final ball and particularly use of free kicks/corners was for once very poor and, allied to AM being at their conniving best, meant we never looked like getting a result. Having to sub Mane to avoid a red card due to his markers diving/histrionics just showed what we were up against. Personally, I'd have given Keita a run 2nd half to change things...his direct running might have upset their defensive rhythm as it was clear that they feared Mane runs and targeted him accordingly. No one had a bad game but with the possible exception of Gomez, no one had a good one either! Anyway, hoping for another Anfield glory night (and a stricter ref) in three weeks. As is the norm in this comp, we like to make things difficult for ourselves. Finally, on the subject of Simeone....he would do a good job in the PL I think.
