Pepe is now banned from the NLD, Spurs are going to appeal the decision.

Back to back trophies for Arteta. He looks to have done one heck of a job in a relatively short time.

Nonsense. Faced rejection because he never turns up for the big matches. And shouldn't have played with politics of the wrong sort.

I guess it should therefore be an Arsenal fan who opens the second round discourse!

I'll first doff my cap to Miggsy who started the thread rolling some moons ago. Dunno whether she is still linked to Thailand at all or whether she still actively supports the Gunners.

Tonight - another humdinger. Away to Manchester United. Given our scoring rate of late I wonder if Mo will park the bus! Hoping for a win but, as always, a defence that can give away two goals in a matter of minutes makes this fan loathe to stick his neck out too far.

Might be asking too much for Arsenal to come out tonight with the same intensity as a few days ago. Fingers crossed !

Yes it will be an interesting game to watch. The way Arsenal beat us this weekend was impressive, can they keep it up away from home?

You got yer wish Ronnie. On reflection we did OK given the tiredness factor with only 3 days since our last battle. Nonetheless, so annoying that our defence gives away so easily, shortly after taking a lead.

Hope that Ramsey's knock is not too serious.

Had a strange feeling all week that Arsenal's long unbeaten run would fall to some unexpected team like Southampton - seems to be the Arsenal way.

We have been unconvincing in the first half to so many teams in the last couple of months that the comeback kings have got to fall sometime soon. The reorganised defence is looking frail and the normally composed midfield are being effectively closed out by Soton.

Both Southampton's goals have been worthily scored rather than terrible defensive errors but we are giving their wing play far too much room to get their excellent crosses in.

I guess we at least keep the crown of playing the most interesting matches for the neutral to watch 😒

It was good to watch.  What i would suggest is that Arsenal look very slick in attack but the defensive frailties are still very much there.  If Emery has real aspirations of taking a top four place then the defense needs tightening up.  I also don't see Mezut Ozil in his long term plans.

Yet more evidence that although there is improvement under Emery the defensive frailties remain.

The 22 game unbeaten run along with the "Arsenal are back and going to challenge for the title" rubbish was way off mark.  Right choice of manager, good signings made but there are still cracks that were papered over.

Anyway, i'll leave the rest to the clowns on Arsenal fan tv.

Banega on the way to replace Xhaka ? Smart move if Emery can pull it off.

The Arsenal backline is absolutely awful.  Its going to take more than one signing to sort out that train wreck of a defense.

And there was people suggesting that this lot could win the league a few weeks ago based on a winning run of 20 odd games beating teams no one had heard of.

Last night was yet another reality check, and the scoreline could have been worse.

Yeah, they need lots of help in the back. Getting rid of Xhaka would help but the centre-back situation is pretty dire. Given their injuries to boot, I still think Emery has done a bang up job with that squad. It'll be interesting to see what they can pull off this transfer window.

I remember an Argentine friend years ago remarking what a shit Lichtsteiner was before I knew of the player. Boy, did he nail that.

Theres nothing wrong with the job Emery's doing, he's a good manager.

What i do think is that fans didn't really see the cracks that were being papered over because they were too busy admiring the two strikers scoring some lovely goals and ignoring the defense, which playing the likes of Liverpool is going to get right royally ripped to shreds.

Talking to a really nice German guy last night. I didn't realise how much Ozil is hated in Germany. Mostly about the Turkish incident and they seem to have forgiven Gundogan as he came out and apologized but they really don't like Ozil. He reckons he'll never get a place in a Bundesliga club again

Think you really mean Wolves looking like they have more of a chance than ManU of European football next season.

I work with Germans and they seem hesitant to discuss Ozil when I've raised him for discussion, so much so that it seemed like i was raising the 40s with them. Can see what Ozil meant with his comments and I'm sure he hit the truth but not appreciated by your average patriotic german.

I thought Arsenal were actually quite good in the first half and deserved better.  However in the second half they were dreadful.  The defense is simply not a top four defense.

What i did read though is that in his first twenty-five games Emery has only three point less than Guardiola did at City and with much less resources.  That suggests Arsenal should stick with him and invest in some better quality players.

Still i was delighted to see them lose.  We now have a solid ten point buffer.

Ramsay to Juve

 £76.8m over four years

 £19.2m per year

 £1.6m per month

 £400k per week

This is the future of football transfers, forget transfer fees, run down your contract and take it all.

Real nice deal that. Top player and like the OX will likely flourish after arsenal.

The Ox has flourished has he. I'd say he's been ok.

Yh but your wrong a lot where football is concerned and no change here either.

Flourished - to grow or develop

1st season OX played 30+ pl games

LFC

Was becoming a regular until the injury. He played his best football in an LFC shirt and maybe there is more to come but in comparison to his bit part role at arsenal, he has done very well to establish himself in a top team.

Sancho flourished too.

Foden is making up the English quota

Best not mention mahrez the 60m experiment.
