Green Jackfruit is really pretty disgusting. It’s a pretty cheap fruit so hardly worth stealing.

This is just a harmless caterpillar.  I think it will turn into a hawk moth, although not sure what species.  Those large bright 'eyes' are just false eyes, and that spike / stinger is just skin... all designed to scare off birds and other animals that might want to eat it.  Not dangerous at all (might be toxic is you eat it though).

The green young fruit is very delicious as a meal.  Dtam Canoon is one of my favourite Thai foods (ask your Thai friends to get you some if you have never tried it).  

 

It is also used a lot in curries and salads.  People don't tend to pinch these because they are very inexpensive and common, not like the expensive Durian fruit or even the ripe large sweet jackfruits.

still... apart from the flesh; I had heard of, and have tried: 

 - to collect all the freshly discarded seeds, and steam them up for 15+minutes. Yum Yum like a hot steamed big pappa bear's size peanut...
