snoop1130 Posted December 6, 2018 Share Posted December 6, 2018 Man punished for blocking path of ambulance carrying patient By Preewadi Khunnaklad The Nation A 72-year-old man, who was caught on camera as the person behind the wheel of a sedan that blocked an ambulance’s path on Sukhumvit Road in Chon Buri’s Muang district, was fined Bt500 as he acknowledged the charge of driving in a manner of barring traffic, said Muang Chon Buri superintendent Pol Colonel Atinan Nuchanart on Thursday. Prawit Boonthaneepakorn, who was accompanied by his daughter and car owner, met the police superintendent to explain himself. The elderly man claimed he was astonished by the siren and froze. As he paid the fine, the man said he apologised to the ill person in the ambulance and hoped the patient recovered quickly. The incident, which was resolved by the ambulance having to push into another lane, was caught on camera and the clip went viral on Thai social media, attracting widespread criticism. What happens when someone beeps, when a truck makes loud noises while breaking, or when a pickup truck with loud music drives by? Have him BANNED for 12 months....I thort, weeks ago there was supposed to be a new system OF POINTS ON A PERSONS licence if breaking laws of the road !! Plus 5000 Baht fines for vehicles (including ambulances) using light and sirens when it is not an emergency. Too many just use lights and sirens to pass traffic when going home or to lunch. I have witnessed this time and time again here and even though I pull over for an ambulance to pass, the Thai drivers don't give a sh1t.........selfish drivers in the main.
