A Krabi policeman has ridden with a local big biker, chasing and shooting at a pick-up after a hit and run incident.

Ao Lueak Police Chief Col Kritsanat Wongklaharn in Krabi says, “At 10am we were notified from Phang Nga Police that a pickup truck had fled to Krabi after a hit and run in Phang Nga.”

“After that Ao Lueak Police in Krabi set up a checkpoint to stop the pickup truck. The pickup truck broke though the checkpoint at Na Nuea in Krabi on Petkasem Road.”

The only police cars I have seen in Thailand are Highway Patrol escorting VIPs, pickups full of traffic cones, and Tourist Police imitating real ones.

The concept of preventive or detection patrols seems absent here, probably interrupts the running of the secondary businesses too much.

Sounds like fun!  It may be a good idea as a tourist adventure.  They can charge tourists to be cops in Thailand~just 2 hour training session, and you can do what the RTP won't.  A BB gun, some pepper spray, and a taser, and you can enforce the lawless, streets, bars, higways...

If accompanied by an officer, real weapons are allowed
