webfact
Relatives want case of "suicide" of young boxing champ "White Swan" reopened Picture: Sanook The family of the young female boxer found dead in Ratchaburi on Monday want the case reopened. An autopsy yesterday decided that Natiyaporn or "Nong Naen" - also known by her ring name as "Hong Khao (White Swan) - died from asphyxiation consistent with hanging. Her family suspect murder while her boyfriend believes she killed herself. Sanook said that mother and father Suriyan and Kingkaew went to collect their daughter's remains yesterday and take her for three days of funeral rites in Roi-Et. Suriyan told reporters that ligature marks were not consistent with the cord used for hanging. He suggested that his daughter was garroted then the scene staged to look like suicide. Mother Kingkaew pointed the finger of suspicion at a self-styled "fortune teller" of her daughter's acquaintance that she was afraid of. The victim's elder sister said she had conversed via Line with Nong Naen the night before her death and she had spoken of finding evidence that her boyfriend had been unfaithful. She said that it was telling that an iPad belonging to her sister was missing. The victim's boyfriend - a fellow boxer by the ring name of "Superbank" who was at the Rama 9 training gym at the time of her death - said that his girlfriend had often threatened to kill herself. He said it was true they had had a jealous argument over the phone and that she said she was going to kill herself. She had tried to take an overdose before and survived after intervention by relatives. He believed that this time she had carried through on her threat. The relatives intend to take the matter up with Ratchaburi police and get them to reopen the investigation following the cremation rites. sweatalot
forensic examination should be a must after each "suicide" in Thailand. If the family is interested in a trustworthy result they should take care that the body is taken to forensic medicine ASAP. (Of course not the one that did the investigations for the Koh Tao murders) May be too late already
