Dash cam footage from Chiang Mai showed a soldier advance on a family of three and threaten to shoot them with a gun.

The incident followed a road rage incident in the Mae Rim district of Chiang Mai.

The footage shows the mother and wife of the men try to prevent them from continuing to argue as the soldier brandishes a gun.

The incident ended without a shooting but the soldier is expected to soon be in custody.

Father Amnat, 54, from Nonthaburi said that he was with his wife and 19 year old son who was driving their Mazda on a trip to Mae Hong Sorn to make merit.

His son had slowed to stop off and buy some lottery tickets and this had enraged another driver who then tried to cut them up in his Toyota Yaris. Both parties wound down their windows and the son yelled "Arai" (what) that further exacerbated the situation.

The other driver called for them to stop.

He then threatened to kill the whole family with his gun, said Amnat.

They all drove off with the wife calling 191 amid fears that the soldier would hunt them down.

Mae Rim police confirmed that the man with the gun is a soldier connected to one of the army camps in the north, reported Sanook.

A summons has been issued after the family accused him of attempted murder.

He is expected to be interviewed shortly.

All those involved in road rage seem to be armed with a weapon.

be it a gun,machete,sword,or a stick, i don't think there would be

as many ,if they did not have a weapon to hand,it definitely seems

to be on the increase, and with fines of 500 THB,that's not a deterrent.

Happy New Year, regards Worgeordie

I don't understand what triggered this incident.

Yes, some Thai people are notorious for suddenly stopping to buy lotteries oblivious to incoming back traffic. They don't give any signal light warning.

Could this be it?
