Sad really, rented a 'powerful' bike instead of a scooter. Obviously to much power for him to handle.

That's one hell of a anti theft chain in the photo !!

R.I.P to the rider

even a 50cc scooter can go fast enough to kill the rider if you smash into a concrete pylon

Wouldn't call a 250 a powerful bike but the nature of motorcycling leaves you vulnerable when you loose control.

" The British man died at the scene of fatal head injuries from the impact. He had also suffered a broken arm and a broken neck, police reported."

helmet?

A Kawasaki Ninja 250 is like a starter level rice rocket. It can really move.

Correct, but witnesses heard the bike "rev" when he arrived to the bend, wich suggest that he overpowered the engine (you can't do this on 50cc scooter) and lost control of the rear wheel.

Wasn't there another fatal accident involving a powerful motorbike and its two riders, also Muay Thai athletes, more or less in the same area not long ago? That time it was against a u-turning car instead of a pilon, but still a matter of speed and control.

RIP.

again, greedy bike rental shops renting bikes whoever can walk and talk without asking a valid riding permit.

those greedy rental shops claimed and still claiming lives and nothing happens to them!

before, phuket police was made it clear like bike rental shops have to ask a valid riding permit to ride a bike but as Phuket is the land of mafia, nothing happens as usual.

some bike rental shops make their money while some tourists die and they even ask for repairs from the family of the deceased like idiots!

I don't think you can blame the rental shops. They didn't force him to rent the bike , or make him ride the bike beyond his capabilities.

I haven't read the whole story , but maybe he had a license. Never the less people who have licenses are not always safe.

I do not know if your post is just socialist bull**it ...
or the result of assimilation in Thainess and blaming the scooter manufacturer for the high number of people killed on the roads

Let me see. A "witness" makes a statement, which is read and a suggested conclusion is arrived at. Simply amazing that someone far removed from the actual scene, can speculate.

Witness=someone at or near the scene.

Apparently no speed bumps nearby, just a bend in the narrow road which the bike missed by a lot. He would have hit buildings if the post hadn't got him first. Obviously going much too fast for the environment.

The chains seemed to be there to mark a no parking zone in front of the gym door.ninja.jpg

Once again, we have an incident when a farang is totally responsible but the peanut gallery wants to turn it around and blame it on the Thais.

I dont even read the comments sections usually as regards to thais having road accidents because i get annoyed by the racist comments targeting ALL thais and their intellegence levels.

Most thais are safe good drivers. Most Thais dont die in road accidents.

But when a farang has an accident the posters still turn it around and blame the lovely Thai people who are our hosts and allow us to live hear.

The number one reason that the road toll is so high is because of the amount of motorbikes which more than 80% of the deaths occur. Another reason is many travel to bangkok and other provinces so times when there are public holidays many of them travel hundreds of kms to visit their loved ones.

The following links are all accidents caused by westerners but each thread is full of racist comments towards our hosts.

How about we tone down the racism on thaivisa. People in glass houses. Show some respect. the thais are in the whole, very nice people.

Yes, most on bikes and it looks like they were not all thai either. Nor are all the accidents caused by thais as shown.

Every country has increased increased road tolls over the holiday period due to more people on the roads.

Thailand seems to be an exception. The road tolls are about the same any day of the year.
