urfix Posted February 21, 2007 Share Posted February 21, 2007 We plan to travel in the Myanmar-Thailand border area by own car: Doi Angkhang, Mae Salong, Doi Chang Mub, Ban Pha Hi, Ban Phami, Mae Sai. Can anybody give us some information if this route can be recommended or if there might be any problems because of the border area? There were times in the past when it was not safe to be near that area because of cross border tension. That is no longer the case. The areas you mentioned are right along the borderline and is a very mountainous area. You will need a vehicle that is in good condition. If you are in Chiang Rai, you might also want to visit the Hilltribe Museum which is near the Cabbages and Condoms Restaurant. Send me a PM if you need more information.
