webfact Posted January 8, 2019 Share Posted January 8, 2019 Thai - Myanmar border crossings under review Picture: Chiang Mai News Chiang Mai News reported that border crossings between the province and Myanmar were being reviewed. Questions have been raised over the efficiency and economic need for some of the crossings. The status of one in particular - the Lak Teng crossing - is being reviewed. Studies have been made over the last twenty years of cross border trade with some crossings closed and then re-opened as economic times changed. Picture: Chiang Mai News Risks of border checkpoints being used for drug smuggling were also raised with government ministries. Government and the economic sector in consultation with local groups were set to review what the status of several crossings in five districts should be. Dazinoz Posted January 8, 2019 Share Posted January 8, 2019 Are these the "official" crossings? I took my gf who is from Myanmar to cross from Thailand to Myanmar at a crossing near Doi Angkhan.
