Thai man in sex extortion warning: Watch out for attractive foreign women!

Channel 7 TV news reported on the case of a Chiang Mai man who was the subject of an online blackmail attempt by an attractive foreign woman who befriended him on Facebook.

In a video call she took off all her clothes and tried to get the Thai man to masturbate.

He said he didn't but shortly thereafter she sent a clip of his face and their interaction on Line and threatened to expose him to all his friends and family if he didn't pay her 50,000 baht.

The blackmail attempt failed as the man went public with a warning. But now it is known there are many victims who are preparing to go to Chiang Mai police.

Thai Rath caught up with 29 year old Thanadon Patthong who is a dance teacher from Chang Khlan sub-district.

A very attractive foreign woman contacted him on Facebook and asked to be his friend. He added her and soon they were chatting about her doing dance.

She requested his Line application ID and their chat about dance continued.

Then she took her clothes off and started to masturbate. She tried to persuade him to masturbate too but Thanadon said he did not and ended the call.

However, a short while later he was contacted again - the caller had made a video clip of his face and wanted 50,000 baht saying she knew the shame he would face in Thailand and that she would send the video to all his friends and family.

Thanadon decided not to pay - it only showed his face after all. Instead he went online to warn others.

Screenshots on the TV report contained much of their conversation such as:

Caller: "Do you like sexy girl?" Him: "Every man like sexy girl".

"You are hondsome (sic)". The caller indicated they were in Macau, China.

Then came the sting:

"By the way I recorded you while masturbating in front of the camera. I have a plan to show to all of your friends and family".

At this point the person said that they were "not a girl" but a "professional scammer".

Responses to the story on Facebook indicate there are many victims of this scammer and several men are planning to go to Chang Pheuak police to make a formal complaint, said Channel 7.

This has been happening in Europe for some time. The scammers use porn videos of women, pretending it is them.

Ruined a lot of people's lives who have fallen for it. Even youngsters. Has even caused some victims to commit suicide, because if they pay, the money demands increase.

I swear my girlfriend showed me this story yesterday on Facebook. She asked me if I have ever done anything like this. I said "I only do things in person with strange women right here in the house so no problem".

thankfully she thought I was joking.

It's very easy to do this scam , just copy an old video of a woman masturbating,  then go live on Line and pretend it's you.  Horny guys who only think with their dicks will fall for this trap.

But if it was me , I would never pay anything. Name and shame the scammers is the right thing to do.

How would she know any of his friends and family?

Do people not know to block people from viewing their 'friends list'.

At least a couple of decades ago I received a 'phone call from (they told me) some sort of 'phone porn site, saying they were 'phoning to find out why I hadn't paid their bill for the porn 'phone call service provided!

When I pointed out that I was female, so hardly likely to use their porn 'phone service..... the caller became aggressive and said it must have been my husband or children that had used my 'phone ????.

I then pointed out that I had no children and (admittedly lied) saying that I didn't have a husband either - so was he really suggesting that a burglar broke into my house to use my 'phone to make expensive 'phone calls to a porn 'phone site?  He then aggressively gave me a number to call to speak to their main office.  I tried 'phoning the number given and suprise, suprise - no-one answered.

I then 'phoned my 'phone service provider who said they'd look into it, but confirmed that there were not any premium rate 'phone calls from my 'phone, so not to worry about it.

In short, attempted scams have been going on for decades ☹️.
