"Relatives of politician" finally held after gang rape of 16 year old girl in Pranburi beach side toilets

Three boys aged 16 to 17 have finally been ordered held by a juvenile court more than five weeks after they allegedly gang raped a 16 year old friend.

The latest developments followed the intervention of the head of Prajuab Khiri Khan provincial police after the mother of the alleged victim complained that the case had gone cold.

Talk News Online said that the boys now in custody were relatives of a local politician, who was not named.

The incident occurred at a beach in Pak Nam Pran on December 1st.

The victim and her mother reported it to Pak Nam Pran police on December 2nd. The victim was given a rape test and her underwear was DNA tested.

But very little happened in investigating the case, complained the mother. The police said these things take time and because lawyers and care officials needed to be present as those involved were juveniles, it would take even longer.

Finally Prajuab Khiri Khan provincial chief Pol Maj-Gen Surasak Suksawaeng had enough and stepped in on Wednesday taking the investigation out of the local cops hands and giving it to provincial police investigators.

Quickly DNA tests were ordered, clothes were examined and the boys were charged with gang rape and abduction. The report did not make it clear if the tests had already been done before the chief's intervention.

The juvenile court did not grant bail on Thursday and the three sixteen to seventeen year olds were ordered held in a Juvenile Observation and Protection Center.

Chief Surasak called for the case to be transparent and justice to be served.

And he promised severe punishment for any police officer found guilty of misconduct in connection with the investigation.

Why are the 'local cops' not being punished/transferred now for being so inadequate in performing their duties to the community?

What!, it takes an outcry from the mother to prompt a senior member of the force to step in. In doing so, these little rodents have now been locked up without bail.   How in the hell have these scum been left on the street for 5 weeks to possibly re offend?

If it were anyone but a pollies son, they would be hanging from a light pole by now.

True, no one has been punished yet.

There has been enough time for a way out of the case to be have been devised, avoiding responsibility based on money and influence. Thai justice - the best money that can buy.

When a guy with no money or influence was caught poaching wild animals last year, he was tried and found guilty, I think, the next day.
