Popular Post bermondburi
Wow, there's obviously a few dangerous posters on here. TV now only accessible via a VPN in Saudi, in illustrious company along with Stickman. 2
robblok
Maybe its because of the bad news about Saudi Arabia, you know the female that escaped and all the comment about the country. They don't like others to know how the world views them.

neeray
As we have all learned, Saudis are a bit sensitive to criticism. I say, too <d-e-l-e-t-e-d> bad. 1
Nyezhov
Freedom in a society is best judged by the amount of interference the Government puts in the way of speech. Unfortunately, in this World, its only the US and a few Scandanavians...maybe OZ too? 2 3

Frankly, I don't know because I've never run into a situation in Oz where my freedom of speech was curtailed. However, I'm not given to public proclamations. There is a case of censorship right now with a very senior Roman Catholic cleric who is in committal hearings for sexual abuse. The police have preferred more charges, but his name was suppressed with the new charges, in order not to prejudice a future jury. The tabloids came out with blank front pages and a single word: CENSORED. It's a bit of a joke, because everybody in Australia knows who he is. I can't say you are free to do anything you want. Americans do appear to be obsessed by freedom. I can remember years ago telling an American wearing a seat-belt in a vehicle was compulsory in Australia, with penalties. He exclaimed that was unconstitutional. I think Australians are more inclined to accept limitations on personal freedoms, if it can be demonstrated it is for the common good. That's why our gun laws differ from the USA. Now I'm stirring the possum.

Much debate in BP about the plight of the Bahrain/Aussie footballer being held here. I imagine it can be difficult to know what the Thai government is not telling the populace because, well, it is not telling.
