Tech giant Amazon has come under fire over the sale of bathroom accessories brandishing the images of Cambodia’s ancient temples, prompting the government to send a letter to its head office telling the online retailer to cease offering the products. The products, by Analisahome, include toilet seat covers with images of the Prasat Bayon temple and floor mats displaying Angkor Wat, and are sold for up to $60 per set.

The display of Cambodia’s ancient temples on these products offended Cambodians who criticised the products on social media and reported what they found to the government. “This very much affects Cambodia’s international honour,” one user said on Facebook. “Please continue to react to protect the reputation of our culture overseas.”

Let's offend everyone. Why not? I am surprised the Thai government has not complained to Amazon about some of the Buddha accessories. Perhaps they aid in meditation and smooth bowel movements?

This reminded me about the “Piss Christ” art exhibit years ago. It was a glass jar with a crucifix of Christ on the cross in the artist’s own urine. It actually won awards believe it or not.

Some people are willing to go to any length to insult other people’s religions and faith. There are no limits to how far they will go.
