Daily News reported on an accident in Nakorn Ratchasima in which a woman crossing the road was run over by a six wheel truck.

The woman was dressed like she was a collector for charity. A black collecting bowl with a little over 100 baht in 20 and 50 baht notes was found nearby.

The woman ended up with severe leg injuries under the wheels of the truck.

Driver Thawee Chapkhunthot, 63, was with his 59 year old wife. He said they were going slowly delivering eucalyptus wood to a shop in the Dan Khun Thot area.

They shouted to the woman to watch out as she prepared to cross the road but she kept walking and Thawee said he was unable to brake in time and avoid her.

The accident happened on the Dan Khun Thot to Kham Ping Road by the Dan Khun Thot hospital where the victim was subsequently taken.

He condition was not reported in the Daily News story. The media described her injuries as "horrific".

What is it with these charity collectors. Do they volunteer for NGO's or do they get a percentage of the take? Is it all a scam like the story of the 3 Philippinas arrested a couple of days ago fundraising for a non-existent charity? Do they need/get a work visa organized by the NGO/Charity? Do the Philippines/Chinese shills doing the collecting know that many of the organizations they work for are scams? I have lots of questions regarding beggars/fundraisers.

They had time to shout a warning as she "prepared" to cross but weren't able to apply the brakes and stop??

Maybe the truck was a little over-loaded ??
