Some fellow remarked awhile back, that his Korean golf partners all use agents for their extensions. Apparently, from their perspective, this seems like the natural/normal thing to do here. It is easy therefore to begin to assume that the problem cases that get reported here are the ‘norm’ and that IOs are out to get us, or to squeeze money from us. That was why I decided to post my story. I have had more TVs than most people without much trouble, despite the various theories that you read here about how many TVs you can have in a calendar year. Even if you do the ED legit via the school, and attend all your classes, there is likely still "agent type chicanery" involved for every 3-mo extension. Other options, like setting up a non-profitable business for a visa, or paying a BOI company for the same, are even more expensive than the elite. So, their lawless lie-stamp in your passport worked, then (obviously, you had the money) - and they got what they wanted. The supervisor who dragged you through that hell may have bought a new car with "bonus payments" earned from the suffering inflicted on you and others. Too bad the arrest and trial of the crooked-supervisor could not be arranged as part of the 'elite visa' bargain. If they added that as a sweetener, they could sell a lot more of them. It is dishonest IOs who carry-out / facilitate most of the illegal things in this context - with the elite being one of the likely reasons they do it. Whether blocking-entry for illegal reasons, processing agent-supplied applications with incomplete requirements, or adding extra "undocumented" requirements to honest in-person expat's applications, the logical explanation is kickbacks paid to the IOs breaking the law. I actually regret paying that much money after what they did to me. I will not renew the visa and I will leave the country when it's over.
