CanNot Posted January 21, 2019 Share Posted January 21, 2019 Hey I got my tires changed/balanced/aligned. But now the steering wheel is not centered when driving straight. I went back to the shop and they screw something on the tires again (without putting it on the alignment rig). Now it's better but still off. It doesn't feel right especially with the manual free hand adjustment afterwards. What's the purpose of laser align everything and then later change it by best guess. Goodyear Auto Shop on Chaengwattana ...opposite side of the road to Makro and just a little further towards Klong Prappa...down the side of the bridge not over it... They messed with it for a while but gave up and left it worse than it was. Guy with all the ASE Mechanic badges on his clean uniform said he didn't know what else to do. Got turned on to a tiny, single-wide shop for trucks and more serious off road 4x4s. A disaster zone by all rights, no computers or laser beams in sight at this joint. Thai guy with a cigarette dangling from his mouth smiled at the B-Quick story, then sorted my truck out in no time at all, for next to nothing. I been to CG0400. It seems like the engineer knew what he was doing. Never less the steering wheel was still a bit of after the alignment was done. Not by far though. That brings back the main question. He acknowledged it was off and adjusted it manually again without lasering it. So now my steering wheel is centered but the wheels are most likely not aligned anymore. I really wonder how this is possible and if I'm missing something major here. Where the top dead-center of the steering wheel is has nothing to do with perfect wheel alignment. Even new cars can have a few degrees of error on the steering wheel center-up.
