Retirement Visa Renewal Lead Time

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Wife and I have Non O Retirement Visa - Chiang Mai - they expire late February.

I may need to go back to Europe for a few weeks and the worry is not back before expiry date so would prefer to do that before departure.

Does anyone know how long before expiry date I can do a renewal?

We are long time Thai Retirees - with correct record - never problems etc.

Best Rgds to all.

It's usually 30-45 days before expiry for extensions of stay, depending on the Immigration Office.

But again depending on the office, if you have confirmed travel plans and airline tickets or reservations to show, they might cut you some additional slack.

Very much up the discretion of your local office.

I think Chiang Mai immigration will accept an application up to 45 day early. If not then it would be 30 days. You should not have a problem doing it next week if you want to.

Don't forget to apply for a re-entry permit!

A few years ago I was outside the 30 days and concerned - I asked for re-entry at the same time with info about travel plans on the application for re-entry and had email tickets with me - they didn't ask for them.  They just did both visa and re-entry at the same time and said have a nice trip.
