Of course the Democrats were all in favor of a wall, until Trump proposed the idea.

And if walls are immoral and ineffective, as the Dems say, why don't they support tearing down the existing ones?

Because everyone knows we need physical barriers along the southern border to keep out the troublemakers.  These are bad dudes, bad hombres.

Chinese built one - did not work. Romans built one in (now) the UK - did not work. What is history suggesting?

And the Mexicans are going to pay for it - so why is Trump asking for the money? Did he lie to his voters or just tell them bulls hit so he would be elected?

Do you do selective answering also? Mine were SIMPLE questions, that so far you have avoided. Perhaps the obvious answer is unsettling for you? ????

I have to ask a question about these 800K federal workers.

R they paid chickenshit wages? If not, how come they don't have any money to survive after missing just 2 pay checks?

Don't they save money to tide them over in emergencies....this is a national emergency.

Most financial planners tell us to have at least 6 months wages saved up....looks like these workers spend every cent they have and without a job they'd be finished.

Good textbook points.

However would it not be true there are many Americans, like all countries, who have a wage packet which is just enough to survive to the next pay packet?

Would it not also be true there's a sector of citizens, any country who, rightly or wrongly make poor purchase / overall financial decisions?

This is classic.  So Trump's new slogan is “BUILD A WALL & CRIME WILL FALL.”  Yes, it's stupid and childish beyond words.  And of course, it's not supported with facts.  But my fellow Americans have come up with some slogans of their own....

OPPOSE A WALL & TRUMP WILL FALL

MEXICO WILL PAY, YOU USED TO SAY’

IMPEACH THIS GUY & LET HIM CRY!

HE WHO SMELT IT DEALT IT!

LET GIULIANI TALK & TRUMP WONT WALK

MUELLER TELLS ALL & TRUMP WILL FALL!

IF YOU RESIGN, WE’LL ALL BE FINE (my favorite)

Marginal tax rate & America will be great

IGNORE THE BOAST AND TRUMP IS TOAST.

Your Long Shutdown is Hurting my Town.

THERE WILL BE NO WALL AND THAT IS ALL!

PUT TRUMP IN JAIL WITH NO CHANCE OF BAIL!

IMPEACH FOR TREASON, THAT'S THE REASON!

All he does is watch Tucker, let's impeach the mother...  (another favorite)

STOP THE WALL & DON WILL FALL!

FORGET THE WALL, BETTER FOR ALL!

Why do you despise Americans so much?

Only 39% of Americans have enough savings to cover a $1,000 emergency

According to Bankrate’s latest financial security index survey, 34 percent of American households experienced a major unexpected expense over the past year. However, only 39 percent of survey respondents said they would be able to cover a $1,000 setback using their savings.

“While tapping savings to pay off an emergency was the most common response, more than a third of Americans would sink into one type of debt or another, potentially harming their financial security,” Bankrate says in the report.

why do you answer a serious and perfectly normal question with liberal hysteria and by creating the false impression that I hate a certain group of people?

These are not hourly-wage burger joint workers...they get paid an average wage of $5,000 a month as I heard on a discussion involving the TSA personnel. So Im genuinely puzzled why they don't salt away a little to tide over a rainy day.

Because your question puts the blame on them for their current straitened circumstances and not where it clearly belongs.

Well it turns out that in the Trump clan there's someone even less ingelligent than Eric Trump. It's his wife, Lara. This story comes from the NY Daily news,  with photograph:

Lara Trump tells 800,000 unpaid federal workers to remember 'this is so much bigger than any one person'

Lara Trump tells 800,000 unpaid federal workers to remember 'this is so much bigger than any one person'

If you’re one of the 800,000 workers who are not getting paid due to the federal government shutdown, President Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump wants you to understand this isn’t about you.

“Listen this is, it's not fair to you and we all get that, but this is so much bigger than any one person,” Trump said in an interview with Bold TV. “It is a little bit of pain, but it's going to be for the future of our country, and their children and their grandchildren and generations after them will thank them for their sacrifice.”

I am not sure where you got your information.   TSA workers generally  begin at the D pay band, which is $25,518 to $38,277. That's in the $2,000 per month category.

The median monthly mortgage payment for American homeowners was $1,030, according to the US Census Bureau's 2015 American Housing Survey. The survey also reported aggregate monthly housing costs totaling $1,492 for homeowners with a mortgage.   Many of the furloughed workers are in cities where the mortgage would be much high.

My emergency savings are for true emergencies-- something catastrophic happens to my car and it requires expensive repairs, I get really sick and have a bunch of medical bills, my apartment burns down, a family member needs help.  Not for the government (or my employer, or whoever) to throw a temper tantrum.  My emergency savings are for MY emergencies, not someone else's manufactured "emergencies."

Not to mention, if your salary comes out to $2000/month, that's not what actually shows up in your bank account after federal/state/local taxes, Social Security, your health/dental insurance, any allotments into a 401k, etc. come out-- what's left over for you to actually pay rent/mortgage/car/utilities/etc. with.  I was shocked the first time I wondered where all my money was going (knowing I wasn't making stupid purchases to fritter it away) and actually looked closely at my pay stub and added it up and figured out why-- because I wasn't seeing a lot of that money to begin with.

Meanwhile, let's forget federal employees.  What about people who won't get food stamps past next month?  What about government contractors who won't be getting paid after this is all over?

Utter hogwash.

These are people in permanent employment, mortgages, insurance, education debts to pay.

It is not their fault the President is proudly shutting their jobs down

And if you are confused why these people are struggling when their pay checks stop arriving.

Don’t waist time being confused, open your eyes to the fact that they are struggling.

You have the reality of people’s struggles in front of you but you look for reasons to not believe that reality.

Which came first, your lack of empathy or your failure to see reality?

well I could have sworn there was a running ticker on cnn that mentioned the employees were owed about 5,000$ per person...I wonder where CNN got that from.

By taking the average of low paid TSA workers, high paid NASA engineers, and other people in a variety of salary levels, I assume.

Actually, the 2K per month sounds correct for TSA...its very possible the 5K figure being bandied around on cnn was for air traffic controllers...thats probably it.

Anyway, Trump did warn voters that voting Pelosi's gang in at the midterms would create conditions that would obstruct the smooth governing of the country....he was right again.

This is like a hostage taker who beats on the hostage and then blames the authorities. Nobody forced Trump to shut down the government. If the latest poll from the Socialists at Fox News is to be believed, the electorate overwhelmingly doesn't believe that the border situation is an emergency. A majority in that same poll believe Trump and the Republicans are responsible for the shutdown.

And if during the next election Trump threatens the American people with dire consequences  of his own making if they vote him out of office, that's legitimate? You and he both have the mentality of extortionists.

Trump found governing smoother when he could operate without constitutional checks and balances.  Con men always find their work easier when the police don't care.

I'm sure employers are going to be thrilled to hire workers who by the time they're trained are most likely going to be gone. If anything proves the phoniness of Trump supporters who believe that Trump is on the side of workers, it's statements like yours.

Hell ya!

We have seen a continual decline in unions and workers rights. Trump's base need a 'Superhero.' That 'Superhero' is Trump. Even though hes not really helping them..

Anyone ever try his vodka or steaks?? Ha

I am surprised nobody says this but I would not even come close to trusting I was getting paid 100% when the shutdown is over. Who knows how long it will last, who knows what unstable temper tantrum Trump will throw.

Unprecedented atuff happens every day with this president.

If you aren't getting paid, that is all you know, you aren't getting paid. So, you'd better act accordingly.

This is the wall that Mexico is going to pay for, right?

And it appears that no Trump supporters want to (or cannot) answer the question "Why is POTUS asking for money when he promised that Mexico will pay"?

His untruthfulness (to put it mildly) has lead to the shutdown. No ones else's fault! Apart from playing the blame game (to cover his own ass) it is a case of deny, deny, lie and lie.

Is this the "leadership" that will make "America great again"?
