SEtonal Posted January 24, 2019 Share Posted January 24, 2019 The Facebook announcement says, "From 1st February 2019, the Embassy will no longer accept walk-in applications or applications through agents." While not technically agents, visa run companies will be affected by this new policy because the only people getting on the van to go from Thailand to Vientiane from now on will be those with confirmed appointments, no last minute passengers. It remains to be seen how long it will take to get an appointment. On YouTube, NDTVi vlogged his visa run to Vientiane. The visa run company he used filled out all the paperwork, included transportation, hotel, and visa for a flat fee (7900 baht). All he had to do was stand in line an hour or two at the Vientiane Embassy to turn in the application documents and return the next day to pick up his passport. NDTVi said that there were two ques - one for agencies (which he used) and the other non-agency. Popular Post British Bulldog Posted January 24, 2019 Popular Post Share Posted January 24, 2019 This is getting ridiculous, so when the missus says, why not go shopping in Udon on the weekend (I am resident in VTE), its not likely to be the weekend of that week from now on ... if at all, most of us simply won't bother as many don't at the moment as a protest to the ridiculous Visa Fee of 1000 Baht (Plus your 2 free Visa's per calendar year). Very annoying of you want to go to Khon Kaen Hospital at a moments notice ! It seems like they are pushing us VTE Residents to take up the 6 month multi entry Visa for 5000 baht, again, I won't on principle because of the rip off visa fee, plus I rarely go that often into Thailand (5 times Plus per 6 months) we used to spend 15,000 to 20,000 Baht at Tesco's plus a lot more at; Makro and goodness knows where as the wife would like to go, this must have reduced the income of some business if there were hundreds of others like us ! And just for the record: Thailand has an Embassy here in Vientiane and a Consular, its the consular of course where you get your Visa's, most annoying if you didn't know that and then have the problem of finding the 'Consular' after reaching the Embassy ! 5 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Could that not also cause the system to PNG people for too many offences? If it doesn't, won't that mean people abuse the system and book later to get longer than 60+30 days for example. I hated paying for the visas for 5 years renewable (the poorly named 'Elite'), but I was so done with all this messing about after so many years. No. If you have to leave Thailand today, but your appointment will be in 2-3 weeks, you will have the option to leave Thailand and spend that time in Laos. Nobody forces you to remain in Thailand on overstay.
