rooster59
Fatal high-speed bypass accident was suicide bid by fleeing Phuket murder suspect, say police By Eakkapop Thongtub The red Toyota Corona that Panuruj Petchoi, 60, died in was confirmed as the car last seen leaving the house where Thipyaporn ‘Kai’ Thipmanee, 50, from Phattalung, was found murdered. Photo: Phuket Provincial Police PHUKET: Police believe that the 60-year-old man who died after his car slammed into a pickup truck at high speed on the bypass road yesterday morning (Jan 25) may have been committing suicide after murdering his long-term partner with a knife in their home in Phuket Villa 5 housing estate in Wichit. Panuruj Petchai, 60, died after his red Toyota Corona slammed into the side of a pickup truck in a U-turn lane on the bypass road at about 10:50am yesterday. Panuruj died at the scene in the high-speed impact. (See story here.) At the time, police believed Panuruj was driving back to his home province of Nakhon Sri Thammarat. tifino
that's a problem, when relationships go sour... up until then, each would normally rely upon the other, to 'have their back'
madmitch
How about he was just driving very fast to get as far away from the incident as quickly as possible. Just as feasible, probably more so, than the suicide theory.

The picture taken from the camera in his car just before the collision showed he was off the line of the road and heading directly at the pickup. At the time I thought perhaps his brakes had grabbed and veered to the right or the theories about a heart attack or falling asleep were likely. I didn't consider him to be aiming it at the other vehicle. I do now.

Old Croc
Perhaps a few of the people decrying suicide as a possibility should watch the full video so they would at least have the full picture: https://thethaiger.com/news/phuket/suspect-dies-in-phuket-road-incident-after-killing-his-wife-video
Somtamnication
Then he was heading towards Central when he hit the truck. If he was running away, he would not be coming from the direction where the u-turns are normally done, near Ikea.

If his intention was to drive back to his home province I don't think he was committing suicide on the way... he was speeding & hit a truck doing a U-turn. Oh and bye the way it wasn't an accident, it was a CRASH !!!

No mention about the condition of the truck driver.

At the time I thought it looked like a deliberate act, but dismissed it as not plausible. IF it was then it is a pretty selfish way to involve an innocent third party, what if there were young children in that pick up......
anterian
A very selfish way to suicide, why not drive into a tree or electricity pole.
