Six tourists and two boat crew have been saved after a speedboat capsized two kilometers offshore from Koh Lanta in Krabi today.

Officials at the Krabi Tourist Assistance Centre were notified of the incident at 11am. Navy and national park officers headed to the scene to find a speedboat which had capsized.

Eight people were floating in the water for about half an hour before they were rescued. All were wearing floatation vests.

Difficult to blame the brakes and or fatigue...

Just wait, there have been enough incidents recently, someone may try it - will probably say the brakes were waterlogged.

It's becoming as dangerous on the water as it is on the roads.

I agree but the Phuket officials are on top of it and inspect the boats/safety rules all the time!!

Isn't this two capsized boats now in about as many days?

But the odds of survival are improving. No deaths in these two.

I just remembered, the other one didn't capsize. It was taking on water, lots of water.

Little training, debatable construction, some maintenance maybe, but doubtful, safety aspect...minimal.

Board at your own risk....I won't.
